Hey guys.
Quick question..
Do I need to have a thermometer or anything in my fruiting chamber? Am I able to grow them just guessing the temperature? I have a list of supplys and I'm hoping it will be enough to grow shrooms from start to finish because I don't have much money to spend.
I am using the pf tek method.
This is all I have right now.
Half pint jars (I have 6)
Spore prints/syringes. (Huatula, golden teacher and Puerto Rican).
Vermicumite/brown rice flour.
Plastic box used for fruiting chamber (I think I should buy another one for my glove box)
Perlite. (For fruiting chamber).
I have everything to get my jars colonized. My question is, do I need to buy anything else to make them grow. Thermometer, etc. If I don't buy these things, will my shrooms still grow?
Sorry about the stupid question, I'm a big noob. Cheers.

if the temp in your home is around 70F, then youre fine.
make sure to make the FC into a SGFC
also, dont make a glove box. make a SAB.

If you plan to do more than this grow and expand on to grains and agar, don't half ass your SAB, make it decent size with large armholes. You will wish you did later, speaking from experience. My 66 qt SAB work fine for a while but was extremely cramped later on and armholes too small, was the source for my contamination problems.
Took me a while to figure that out because ppl hardly bring it up trouble shooting why they get contams. With a larger SAB (like a 105 qt) you can work far in the back where the air is most still. Larger armholes (5-6") produce less air currents than small ones when you move your arms. SBJ's build works very well.

Where were you last week when I was building my 66qt SAB? I'm glad Sterilite's are cheap.

Dude, the 66 wasn't even my first one, I'd be embarrassed to post a pic of it On the up side, they work great to store all of our cult stuff neatly, or can even tape up the holes with gorilla tape and turn it into a mono if you're hard up
The tall 105 is the shit, I swear you could g2g half gallons in it if you wanted to

Don't joke about the mono tub conversion. I briefly toyed with the thought of training it to stand on end and buying a whole bunch of poly to deal with the excesses in the hole department.

Hopefully it will be in service for a short period only. I've put PF tek next on the apprenticeship schedule after the two current projects run their gamut. I suspect I'll have enough room in it to get through a couple of cycles of that until I move on to something like spawning to substrates.
