Outdoor cult thread 2016

I always thought we should have an outdoor cult subforum. Figure, if not might as well have a thread. Got a late start this year due to contams. But finally got clean spawn and some not so far gone contamed spawn for a couple beds right now. Hope to throw down a few more so long as my next transfers come out ok. Spawned this bed yesterday. I don't really have a ratio as I kind of just always eye it and I forget to what general measurements. I basically like to add manure to straw to a consistency that I've found preferable as per past times. And usually just goes by eye. I always worked with one of those mega coolers so I kinda had an idea. Lost the cooler so just mixing with garbage cans right now but same process pretty much. Just go by eye. As long as consistency of straw to manure was good, and mixed up to my liking and I could pick up a handful and make out a few grains per x amount of area it's good. Best part about outside. So forgiving. I would basically chop up a bunch of straw. Fill cooler to about 2/3 with copped straw. Maybe 3/4. Give or take. Add water, weigh down, let soak for anywhere from a couple hours to no more than 24. Drain add manure till it was just a healthy mix, then a good 6 to 10 jars of spawn. More or less depending at times. Best part about outside. I've had 3 jars of even slightly contamed shit colonize as much. Anywho, got a late start this year as I said but, definitely not a bad time for shit to be getting thrown down. Supposed to be really hot for next couple weeks so long as I keep up on keeping it from drying out, the heat should help it colonize quickly. Just wondering if anyone else got some outdoors goin on and Wana share

Hah. I was unaware. I been pushing that envelope for years. Awesome! Still feel free to chime in here as I feel a thread has a place all the same in here.

Nice work deadphan Still haven't gotten around to testing an idea that could help people starting out have good outdoor success. The thought is make a bunch of cakes, dig down a bit and make a bed sit the cakes whole after dunking side by side touching then cover with a casing layer of coir, dirt, ect whatever is available to pin out of, supply and retain moisture.

Yea that Def works also. I just add grain jars to sub as I would to a mono. I haven't done cakes in a while, and I haven't had the ability to do tubs last cold season so just outside it is with grain spawn. But grain to straw/manure outside is pretty awesome. The only thing will be slugs but got a couple ideas to try as detergents this year.

Yeah I tried with grain earlier this year, animals destroyed my bed I haven't done cakes in a long while myself as well but thought they wouldn't be as attractive to animals as grain. Some others in another thread had some good ideas to keep the grains from being eaten.

I don't have a problem with animals like squirrels and such. Bugs like slugs and beetles though.

Love the way they look outside, beautiful! Agreed outdoor dosen't get enough attention, you get a system down that works for your area like you have there are some major pluses, really no worrys about contams, no fruiting chamber, and some huge fruits.
