If you ever want to impress your guests without fail, provide them some fine cheese and wine.
When they arrive, answer the door just like this

Make sure your table looks like thus

All that wine pretentiousness is major BS> I work in a place that tries to push expensive wines. These wines are marked up to 300% sometimes. A 100 buck bottle of wine might be 25 at the store. I think a reason why wine is so popular is because it was mentioned in the bible.
I think it is just a bunch of pretentious crap and I do not care about any of it! Who gives a shit about how much the bottle of wine costs, where it was grown, what soil it was in, who made it and blah blah blah ad nauseum bullshit! Fuck pretentious people and their fucking stupid wine! They can shove that wine bottle up their tight pretentious asses!

Five clam bottles of wine are really good here.
I paid 10 clams for a bottle of wine yesterday and it was delicious.
Even went past the grape fields in the area.
I've never stepped foot in an establishment that solely sells wine.
Even "wine experts" get fooled with dirt cheap lovely wine and can't tell what's what.

I am not sure about wine but the area where beverages are brewed and fermented can have a huge difference on the outcome.
Lambic is a Belgian ale and has one of the most unique/ rich tastes out of any fermented beverage which it gets from being brewed in a specific location.
The yeast that occurs in said location is what makes a lambic a lambic, if you tried copying the recipe elsewhere it wouldn't be nearly as good or authentic.
That said wine can be seriously overpriced and as others have said most wine taste like shit anyways

Good wine grows in value the longer it's aged, but you can find a lot of really good cheap wine for 20 bucks if you look enough. Not everyone likes the same thing an even a 100 dollar wine can taste like crap to someone. It's all about finding which type you like an going from there.

Wine is fucking delicious but I don't think I have personally spent more than 20 bucks on a bottle myself . I read somewhere that there's been a lot of blind taste tests where a lot of 'experts' couldn't tell the difference between 20 dollar wine and 100 dollar wine, and I know I sure as shit wouldn't be able to tell the difference, so what's the point? I've been wine tasting and it's fun, but I'd rather go beer tasting - way more variation.

Blindfolded* oh it tastes just like the one I had in Calabria when I visited Italy.
The taste of the region is very distinctive.
Yeah, yeah, well take off the blindfold.
Kraft Parmesan.
No, but I am a Parmesan buff! Did they come up with a new recipe?! I am going to write kraft a letter of recommendation! They've really improved. Wow!
No, it's the same old Kraft Parmesan dust.
Well gosh! Would you just look at it!
