I love big dogs, I adopted a golden retriever from a golden rescue and he was honestly the best dog I've ever had - an older guy, but it was perfect for me, he made a great companion. My family has always had labs and goldens and they're fabulous, if a little doofy, very easy to train, very fun, pretty low maintenance - just gotta watch for hip problems, obesity, and cancer - which is what got my pup last year .

I love German Shepherds too, energy level is a bit higher, but they seem like they're really really fun to train, those are definitely dogs that need a 'mission'.

Huskies, are beautiful, but their energy levels are insane and unless you're very active and you have a lot of space for it to roam I would honestly advise against a husky. They're also much harder to train than most dogs.

Honestly if this is your first dog, even if you had dogs growing up or whatever, I wouldn't go by dog breed and I would just look into adopting, chances are you'll come across a dog of a breed you're partial to  - or if you're dead set on a breed then look into rescues for that breed in your area.

I'm not dead set on anything just beginning to explore the possibilities early

I'm a tree climber so I've got the energy for a husky though I do work a lot

Definitely appreciate the input I obv want to give the right dog the right home

Look into greyhound adoption, great dogs, amazing with kids. Cheap and they never have been loved before.
