Found this PDF online, sharing it. Its basic but teaches you alot.
How to grow oyster using paper pellets - kitty litter.
I've been using paper pellets for 2.8 years now. Great to work with, very flexible and easy.

Nice one!
I've been playing around with paper pellets a bit too, it works great for oysters.
I'm running an experiment at the moment with shiitake 3782 at a high spawn rate with paper pellets, I tried 16 small bags of:
- 4 bags with paper pellets
- 4 bags with paper pellets and hydrated lime
- 4 bags with 50/50 pp/hwfp
- 4 bags with 50/50 pp/hwfp and hydrated lime
All the paper only bags failed, the mix of pp and hwfp seems to have colonised ok, will have to wait another month to see for sure.

Easy in pellet form, but any card, or paper will work.

Reishi works really well on corrugated cardboard, here's some I've grown on 100% beer carton substrate (unpasteurised, just soaked in cold water).

Just wow, those look really thick. My first fruits where from 100% paper. They do take longer on plain fiber, but they really can get big.
How long did that take tren?

I think it took about 3-4 weeks from spawning to pinning, the antlers/conks probably took another 2-3 weeks to form. It was really hot weather, days were generally 32-43C (90-108F) outside

Great work without using additives or grain. Good time scale too. Just goes to show how potent and easy plant fiber is.
All my biggest fruits have been on fiber.
Add some carrots for root lovers.

So I've made a test substrate from: Paper, SPF, YN, and Burgess Excel Rabbit Nuggests.
Got 2kg bone dry for £3.40, roughly retail rice prices.
----
Recipe:
> 100g dry paper pellets. > 20g pet food pellets. > 2.5ml SPF or LPF. > 0.6ml YN.
Measure your hot water, add the SPF, YN and pet pellets to the water. Mix together untill fully uniform and saturated.
Add the solution to the paper, mix well. Microwave for 80 seconds.
Leave to cool.

Ok Some good, and some bad results so far. The bad news is the probiotics have fully actived. This is bad only due to the smell, a cleanish decomposing methane like smell.
The good news is that it took less than 24 hours, which is very fast. Also there is no slime, or any other obvious signes.
So I need to pasteurize for longer to cull. Sterilizing defeats the objective.

You can use the above recipe to make a rich probiotic mushroom compost. Assemble, cold, throw in a bucket, leave for 12 months outside.
I would also make sure its fully covered, maybe cased.
When ready pasteurize and use.
