Growers 2 car garage grow upgrade and build * 1
    #23409035 - 07/04/16 12:35 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Those of you that have been tracking me know im moving soon. Im closing on a house soon (hopefully) and its a 2 car with side access parking. There is no side door but i plan to install one. This place will be wired up for a legit grow with tons of outlets and plenty of power. Ill start off with just moving my existing grow chamber but eventually its getting a make over. Here is a list of my planned changes

- build a clean room with the steam sterilizer, no more sealing grow bags for steaming
- move intake/swamp cooler to outside grow chamber
- swap to to $$ CelDeck swamp cooler pads
- Move exhaust fan to outside grow chamber (makes room for next line)
- duct exhaust fan out an exterior wall, no more under the garage door BS
- possibly cut a drainage ditch with sump pump for excess water
- install door on far end of chamber for easy disposal of bags
- upgrade to either an 85 gal SS single drum sterilizer or build a steel insulated 7'x4'x2' steam shed for a wire shelf
- install conduit shelving in chamber (this might be done before the move)
- buy a small trailer to load with sacks of fuel pellets, bran, soy hulls and park on side access
- possibly swamp cool entire garage??  Then i would just have a fogger tote to bump up the RH more.
- Build insulated heated and air conditioned incubation chamber next to grow chamber. This should give me space to grow more shiitake again and fruit in my small chamber

That is amazing.  I like you have it all planned out before starting.  Hope to see a log or finished product.

What are the inside dimensions of the garage? What about doing two separate rooms for different species, or a back-up if you need to disinfect/deep cleaning?

I havent measued it yet but its around 400sq ft. I like the two chamber idea but that would be further down the road. I will have may small 2x3 shelving grow for shiitake and kings, hopefully get around 15 lbs a week out of that. I could replace the shelving with a larger shelving system if i needed to slighly expand. Im already busy enough as is and i hope to get 60-100lbs a week which will be more than enough to sell. I have a full time job on top of this so i dont want to go overboard.

I like your plans Gr0wer, excited to see it take shape.

If you were planning on leaving the trailer outside make sure there aren't HOA or land covenant rules restricting outdoor trailers.  Same goes for checking on restrictions on outside sheds or other structures.  Much easier to find that out before buying than after you've already bought (which is when my neighborhood seems to spring rules like that on people).

No HOA, that was one of the things we were looking at in houses. I'm a gear head and project guy so i made sure i wouldn't get choked out by some HOA. I can build one 200 sq foot shed on my property with no permit, any larger or more than one and i will need a permit.

those HOA dont fuck around. they tried shutting my jujitsu instructor down for having mats and teaching a few of us INSIDE HIS OWN GARAGE.

Yup, most ive seen state the garage is for car storage only. Im currently in a HOA and is one of the reasons why im leaving. They dont know because i keep the garage door shut.

I'd always wondered if that was why you were concerned about "nosey neighbors"

Glad to hear the new place is not encumbered by an HOA.
