I was 16, pissed at life depressed, was not seeing any future so I just said fuck it, a friend of mine told me to come with him to BC, (the dude on the left in my pic, I'm the dude on the right I was 17 on this pic) he was already homeless ,he showed me the ropes dumpster diving, squeedge, pan handling, hitch hiking,he had jumped one train before from mtl to Toronto. So he knew a little about it but in reality almost nothing, we learned everything on the fly together ,It was always a fuckin adventure.
I travelled really light, 2 underwear ,2 pair of socks ,a hoodie a sleeping bag and a tarp. I actually made the ride from BC to Quebec with no back pack one time when I was 17. I ended up in youth jail for 6days in Calgary because of a warrant because of a graffiti.. Lol when I got out the people I was with had given my bag to a old bum lol

I see man. I'm sort of in the same boat right now. not going to college-I'm pretty set on not doing... can't afford it and don't want to live in debt for the next 20/30 years, working a dead end job that I absolutely hate. I have to go to work soon and I'm already thinking fucking a... I feel like shit every single day, I'm trapped inside my own negative thoughts. I have my own car and money saved up so I have more than just a backpack. I still want to travel pretty light though, don't want all my shit stolen if my car was to get broken into. I wanna head out west to Colorado, Washington, California, Oregon. I don't know jack shit about traveling... never driven far myself although Ive been in the car with someone when driving across country multiple times.

Just depends on what you consider the "normal life".
I work a 9-5 and a very straight job at that. However, I'm still growing shrooms, extracting crystals, and hitting cid on the weekends. I'm about to start brewing my own beer and am in the process of recording an album. I don't consider my life very normal but some could say that due to my occupation.
And although there are things I would rather do than work; I will actually have a retirement in case I don't get run over by a bus.

Kush_Zombie said: I think most ways of quitting the "normal life" are going to involve quite a bit of risk. Assuming you don't already have money when you decide to quit, you'd more or less be looking at something along the lines of selling illegal substances. Some people keep it simple and clean with natural illegal products like cannabis.
Others like to get dirty and fuck with meth and rob people and other crazy shit.
Regardless on what you're doing, unless you're making some awesome homemade products and selling it on etsy or ebay or something, you're probably risking some jail/prison time and possibly your life.
Cannabis has been a steady income for me in the past. It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that I stopped selling completely (after doing it for a few years). I didn't realize how stressful it was until I stopped doing it. I told everyone I'm out and I've ignored phone calls ever since then and it's been absolutely great. No drama, no stress, no rushing, just catching up and trying to do what I need to do to get my head straight.
I'm planning on buying tools to do landscaping for money eventually. Taking care of yards and working outside is something I've always had a knack for. You can pick your jobs, name your prices, and do your own hours as long as you get what you need to done when you're supposed to.
Damn it, man, that sounds so relaxing and free. Congrats
aren't you the kid that got butthurt and left me a zero rating saying "go back to school, it would do you some good."?
Maybe I don't remember such, but going back to school would do everyone some good, wouldn't it?
Do you really care that much about ratings?

If I cared about ratings then I would have confronted you about it when it happened seeing as how we had no confrontations around that time.
I just love the irony of you saying how great it sounds to be free while I have a zero rating from you telling me to go back to school.
But no, your opinion really doesn't matter to me.

When you go to sleep turn the light off. It's as simple as that.

I quit the normal life as a teenager. Hitting shows, fests, doing drugs, working dead end jobs, selling drugs, etc. did some traveling. But mainly I just did drugs. I had some great times & awesome experiences. But in all honesty, most of it wasn't glamorous & I was a shattered soul. I opted back in to the normal life in my mid-twenties when I finally got my shit together, and that was a wise decision. Turns out that I am cut out for the 9-5 lifestyle. I still have fun, I still travel & go to shows & party here & there. But I have a purpose. I'm far from rich but I'm comfortable. I can do the things I want, get the things I need & want. I have stability & security. I know myself. I know what I want out of life, and I'm pretty sure I know how to make it all happen. My chosen career path is awesome, and something that I enjoy doing. This normal life really isn't bad at all. In fact it rocks....and I haven't had to sacrifice my principles or who I am. I still fly my freak flag. I just do it more discreetly, and I've been able to blend that aspect of myself with everything else; turned it into an asset. Hell of a journey, this thing called life.

yes, you would be surprised to see exactly what gets thrown out
dumpstered a 50$ ham the other day and had a big feast, with side dishes and everything--currently sitting on a backpack full of bacon which i will be taking to a fish fry tonight (friends salmon fishing was a success!)--and who knows what the dumpster gods will toss my way next--maybe even some vegan trash food?
if they are selling it inside, you can be sure they are tossing it out back
