no.

just family and acquaintances

Something there is mysteriously formed,
Existing before Heaven and Earth,
Silent, still, standing alone, unchanging,
All-pervading, unfailing,
I do not know its name; I call it tao.
If forced to give it a name, I call it
Great (ta). Being great, it flows out;
Flowing out means far-reaching;
Being far-reaching, it is said to return.

It's just a shot away..

Depends on how you define "friends", I still occasionally see friends my from my childhood but considering how occasional it is I have a hard time thinking them as "friends" as least close ones. So yes and no :lol: I have always been somewhat of a loner though, large group interactions tend to stress me out and overwhelm me. When I was younger I would regularly hangout with 2-3 good friends at a time but overtime I got burnt out on it.

Quote:

I'm not even lonley, I just don't care any more. I'm mid 20's. This is how it is eventually for everyone I assume.

I feel like its a personality thing, some people need to be around others to be happy or content but others are almost the opposite.

--------------------
Don't worry about me, I've got all that I need. And I'm singing my song to the sky

You know how it feels, With the breeze of the sun in your eyes. Not minding that time's passing by

I've got all and more, My smile, just as before. Is all that I carry with me

I talk to myself, I need nobody else. I'm lost and I'm mine, yes I'm free

Yeah definitely do, but that's mainly attributed to high school and college interactions.

Is like to think so, but in reality I can count on my hands how many I consider real friends. People who I feel a connection with I mean. Family doesn't count for me but I consider my dad and auntie friends.

I'm sick of all you hypocrites
Holding me at bay
And I don't need your sympathy
To get me through the day
Seasons change and so can I
Hold on boy, no time to cry
Untie these strings, I'm climbing down
I won't let them push me away

Thankfully, lots, even though I don't get see them all that much. 4 who are VERY close;

1x 17yr friendship from teenage years (only one left from that time),
2x 10-12yr friendships from back to back jobs
1x 6yr friendship with the guy who ran my old gym (one of the kindest humans I know)

3-4x Shroomery friendships, one extremely close, but never met IRL (will fix later this year)

Then extended ones; I have an adopted 'mother' figure in my life who carried me from a troubled 18yr old kid into a moral young man and her husband who I still see regularly as great friends. Security guards at work who I meet up with sometimes, along with a couple of current/ex-colleagues. The guy who works in my local off-licence is a great friend. Fuck, even my parents feel like friends these days.

And then the more distant ones; friends from childhood or people I have met since and bonded with but see very rarely. Old gym buddies. People I've only met a couple of times in certain places but could get down with soon as I saw them.

I live to bond with people. The closer I can get, emotionally and spiritually, to another human, the more I feel like I'm touching on my true purpose in this life.

Yeah, I have a good number of friends, although I don't really relate to anyone past a superficial level.

I have two people I mainly hang out with. However only one of them is a true friend.

This one person I believe 100% I could bring a million dollar's to him and he would hold onto it for me with no theft.

His attitude towards things like that is similar to Mike Ehrmantraut. Same type of Character but not as serious in socially- more friendly to be around.

I like the way you quantify what makes a true friend there. It's an interesting thought. I've often thought about my friends in the light that, 'if I had just killed someone, would they do everything they could to try and shelter/protect me?'

Not that I even intend on killing anyone, but quantifiable loyalty is a subject that interests me.

Yes that is what a real friend is for sure. Some one who is for you and not against you regardless of how the circumstances change for better or worse.

I would help this man dump a dead body in the ocean if needed. I feel it comes down to deeply rooted cultural means and blood.

That's often time why people would commit the entering of covenant together and mixing their blood so they become friends.

After that they are family.

Yeah trust is a big deal, I had two people whom I thought were the best of friends.

However, eventually I came to realize they only care about themselves, they might help you if its safe to do so and there is something in it for them (even in the long run), but they won't stick their neck out.

One of them even walked by a scene which was likely developing into an attempted rape, while I called out to him to help me mitigate said situation, so he not only walked out on that lady, but on me. This is a guy who is well over 2 meters tall, over 200lbs of muscle; all he needed to do was walk over and nothing would happen, but it wasn't worth 30 seconds of his time.

Those kind of people don't have friends, only people they can use, its better not to have them around at all on principle and for practical reasons (informant material for example).

I have a whole bunch of good friends but only one who I would consider myself really close to like in terms of how well we know each other
