Do you work standing or sitting?

I'm coming to the point now where I've spent the last 8 years of my working life, which spans the last 17 years, during which time I've never gone much over a month without working, sitting on my ass.
For the first 9 years I worked I was always on my feet.
It's bad sitting IMO. Somewhere, deep down, I can hear my body telling me 'this is bad man, this is gonna come back to haunt you if you keep doing it'. But I got drawn in my the money and it's kept me there; I earn nearly 3 times as much as what I ever did on my feet. But fuck, if I'm throwing my health out the window, or rather, selling it for cash, WTF if the point??
So I've made my escape plans and intend on never having a sit down job again once I get out of this one in six months.
So do you sit or stand for work? Would you sit all day for more money knowing it was gonna be bad for you long term?

At this very moment in time I am unemployed
however all the jobs I worked in the past wast mostly standing up...
and physical labor work.
My aunt owns her own party catering business, so during the day we would ride around in the truck making deliveries to the houses (samsonite chairs, 8ft tables, glassware, etc.)
in between the deliveries we would obviously be sitting but it was cool because we would all blaze up a little, kinda made the day go faster
then come around 5'o clock I would change into my uniform (dress pants and buttondown shirt) and go work a party for however many hours
sometimes I would just pass around food, or pick up after the guests. it was really good when I got to manage the bar because tips are aweeesome!
All you have to remember is what they are drinking every time they come up to you, and have some good social skills. you'll make a lot of money in tips + hourly wages
Another job I worked more recently for a few months was with my neighbor
he has is own marine carpentry business, now that was a lot of fun!
Working with power tools and these big expensive boats is a once in a lifetime experience.
not many people get to work with jackhammers barefoot, its quite the thrill
we have our fun too, jamming out while getting shit done, it was a mixture of standing and sitting. But you get to work with your hands so you don't really get bored.
maaan, I gotta get another job

Sitting, standing, bending over, laying down, etc.
Sitting all day is fucked. Had to do that shit in collage and it really fucked with my back. No thanks. As bad as that is for your body I think regardless of what you do your body will hate you at 50, I'll probably be worse off than the people that sat at a desk. fuck it.

I've stood at all my jobs and I tend to stand and pace around a lot in my everyday life; I only really sit down when I'm waiting for stuff, or watching TV, shitposting, or studying, which leaves me more time to stand and pace around for no reason than you might think. I need to start going on more hikes again, like I used to do before I went back to school.
I wouldn't be against taking a good paying, interesting job that was mostly sitting. I am a nerd after all, so sedentary jobs are kinda par for the course. I wouldn't be able to deal with sitting -all day- though, it would make me painfully restless and I would shoehorn as many walks into my schedule as possible. There have been times where I opted for public transportation over driving myself or carpooling, just for the stroll.

That being said I am on feet all day, no I wouldn't take the sitting down job for more money , I'd focus on my current job and how to increase my pay

I've never worked a job where I'm required to sit.
Worked seed and loam like one summer
Paved for like two years almost
Now I'm a bicycle courier in Boston and its my favorite job by far
On a busy night if I hustle hard I make ~100-120$ in four hours

I sit most of the day.
To compensate, I make sure to get a solid workout in five days a week. I also usually go out of my way to gain extra activity, rarely take the elevator, walk here and there, etc. I have the opposite opinion of many here: I'm glad I'll never fall off a roof, or drop something on my feet. I think my body would feel much worse after decades of physical abuse lifting heavy things all day.

years of abuse i can actually get out of bed without taking a half hour to stretch myself out. i feel better sitting down. maybe the damage has already been done.

I'm all over the place when I work; standing, sitting, kneeling, crawling around, running around, occasionally laying.

I did this for 13 hours a day 6 days a week and 5 or so hours on the 7th day for 2 months once. In front of a sandblasting machine. Aside from the few times I fell asleep with my face on the glass, I was surprised at how quickly my body adapted. Although I was 18.
I think what prompted me to start this thread was talking with my cousin who has been a farmer his whole life, except for a hiatus of a decade while he travelled. In doing so he took a desk job for a while and was telling me the other night how much he remembers the aches and pains of sitting for extended periods crept up on him.
I try and mitigate all the sitting as much as possible by walking for 30 mins on my break and doing resistance and cardio training every day, but I still feel it's not enough to counter the damage...

Worked a job for a month at a call center and it sucked BALLS. Literally sat on your ass waiting for a phone call to come in, if no calls came in you just stared at your screen. Terrible. I am extremely active so it was torturous. Everyone there was overweight I couldn't do it.

My friends dad had a heart attack. He survived because it was mild, but still was serious. He said it happened because - for his job, "he sat down one day and never stood up again for 20 years."
Now he is retired and exercises and seems to be in better shape around 60 years old.

Sitting down for extended periods of time is bad for you, you can get blood clots in your legs, nerve issues among other things, aslo people that sit for extended periods of time, tend to live shorter lives.
If you can get a setup like this in an office, then it's what you want.
