How to photograph Fly Agaric (Amanita Muscaria) for an ID?

Hi guys. On my way to my P.Subs spots (East Vic, Aus), I often walk past what looks to be Fly Agaric (Amanita Muscaria).
After learning that with the right preparation (dry, boil) you can extract the goodness I am sufficiently interested to try 'em and so, will post a proper ID request.
I have a few questions about how I should go about this:
1.a Do I need to uproot the mushroom for a good look at the base? (I hear the bottom of the stem is crucial for ID)
1.b Should I attempt to cut the stem with a pair of scissors? (my usual MO) ... should saving the mycelium be a concern?
1.c Would I be better off just digging on one side (and replacing the dirt after) to get a view of the full mushroom or would that be worse for the mycelium than simply pulling it out?
2. Would a cross-section be beneficial?
3. Is storing the same as Subs? That is, cracker dry in an airtight jar w/ desiccant packet? Or are you better off keeping an extract somehow?
I'd rather leave the mushrooms as they are until I have a good idea, I think I'll take only a few good candidates for ID if any.
Tips / advice appreciated!

Yes, gently take two fingers and slide them into the dirt towards the base of said mushroom, about 2-3 inches deep. Slowly and gently bring finger-tips upwards in a "come-hither" fashion. This should push the entire intact mushroom up, including the base. Gently brush off any dirt/debris along the base and photograph.

No, don't bother. The mycelium is mycorrhizal, it's health depends more on the well being of the host-tree's roots. You could spread the mycelium around but most trees will already have established mycorrhizal networks, I'm not sure how worthwhile or effective this would be. It's different than Psilocybe species in that aspect which are saprotrophic, meaning they feed on decaying matter.
The most important thing for ID'ing members of the Amanita genus is the base of the mushroom, host tree and general appearance of fruit bodies. All the spore prints will be white/buff.

You can just kind of scrape the dirt and see if you can see the bulb - just at least get the ring and stem, I suppose, for good measure. Also make sure to get good shots of the color and warts and stuff.

Thanks for the advice guys. I hope my pictures will suffice...
Figured there isn't much point making a new thread so I will do the ID request here if that's okay
Amanita Muscaria ID request
Habitat: Under pine trees, flowing body of water nearby, leaves, tree roots etc.
Gills: White to creamy yellow to caramel brown with age.
Stem: White. Thickness: 1 cm to about 1 inch~. Length: 5 to 12 cm~. Inside is slightly hollow with fluffy bright white.
Cap: Bright Red turning orange, yellow, creamy, caramel-brown with age, I think.
Bruising: None that I can see.
General location: Eastern Victoria, Australia
Picture dump:

And more...

More still...

I heard you like Mushrooms...

I probably won't be harvesting all those^ btw. The babies & old-timers are for ID and voyeur purposes of-course.
Hopefully everything pictured is the same kind of mushroom, I feel pretty confident. Thanks for looking!

Beautiful pictures! They are one of the most photogenic mushrooms you can find. I'm also keen on learning up on methods of ingestion so let me know how your method goes whatever you end up doing with them. I've heard about drinking the water from the cap, I haven't tried it.... yet..
