Slightly contaminated cakes with fruiting

I found two of my cakes were contaminated when they were roughly 80% colonized. sucks but I put them away and looking back a week later I saw the mycelium has overtaken the small contaminated area and has started to fruit. My question is are these still usable or do I have to dispose of them?
Pictures 1 & 2 are the of the same jar

These are all of jar 2

They are still contaminated, which is why you are seeing pins and fruits. There's large gaps in your PF jars as well..thats a big problem when your verm barrier caves in.

Dispose of them.
That looks nasty infection.
I personally would not salvage the fruits either.

I'm new to growing can you guys explain why they need to be disposed of? I can understand in the beginning stages but these are almost completely colonized. The mycelium is a living thing does it not have an immune system that fends off contamination? What will happen if I birth these and let them fruit? Thanks for your help

Mycelium has an immune system AFTER it has colonized all of the substrate.
If contamination strikes AT ALL, before colonization is complete, then the Mycelium has no chance, its doomed.
And the fruits are likely exposed to a Potentially dangerous mold/bacteria.

They will just end up covered in mold spores once you expose them to fresh air. Extra mold spores in your grow area should be avoided. Why risk fruiting something which you know is contamed when in the best case scenario, it just couldn't possibly give you a good enough yield due to it fighting a contam and in the worst case scenario, fill your grow area will mold spores?

The early pining before full colonization is due to the mycelium being stressed by the contamination. Open the jars outside only.

Oh right, you can bury the cake outside. You may get a few fruits out of it.

If new fruits come up and there is no visible contamination on the fruits then yea.

I have done an invitro grow and there was a small amount of contam(maybe trichoderma) and cobweb on it. I gave it better fae, the cobweb went away and the mycelium took over the tiny amount of trich. There was no trich on the the fruit body and it was still great. But like the others said, you can also risk releasing the spores in your grow area. Good luck.
