How much do you spend on food per day?

On a typical day, how much do you spend on food?
Include snacks, drinks (coffee, wine, water), groceries, eating out, pizza... Everything consumed.
Me:
$5.00: Coffee and bagel for breakfast $6.00: Salad for lunch $5.00: Pizza for dinner; maybe a bowl of chili $5.00. a drink or two $4.00 some nuts or cheese as a snack -------- $25 roughly?

$6-12, depending on what i happen to be eating. 95% organic
i buy some stuff at costco, but i also run a bulk food-buying club which amounts to significant savings on organic food. largely eat dry goods, have fresh veggies from my own labor.

35 cents for eggs 40 cents for bread 10 cents butter 10 cents coffee
50 cent pasta 1$ veggies
5$ meat 1$ veggies
So 7.95$ a day. Make it 10$ because of restaurants and more expensive variants

damn!
Mine varies cause i buy at convience stores sometimes and other times, just go to the gorcery store.
I spend about $60-$70 a week on food, so about $10 a day roughly. A lot of canned food and premade food.
I used to buy a lot of fruit and raw meat, but it got too expensive.

Because my daily routine/schedule tends to fluctuate a lot (sometimes home sometimes not), my food costs are highly variable and I've never plotted it to figure an average.
My breakfasts are almost always at home and typically consist of a home-brewed latte ($1-2 per serving or free if using beans my friend roasted for me ), Organic Valley Grass Milk ($0.50 per serving), fruit of varying origin ($1-3 per serving), and anything from leftovers to toast to polenta with poached eggs to fried rice to bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese (let's say ~$5/serving). Lunch is often eaten out, typically around $10-15 for a lunch combo meal at the local Thai or sushi joint or for some fresh fish with a couple of sides from the galley at the local seafood purveyor, a bit less ($5) if I go for a hamburger from In-n-Out or the Habit or some street tacos. I'd wager dinner is the most variable, as going out will easily set me back $30-$50, but cooking at home with veggies from the garden and just a little bit of store bought can be quite cheap (< $5), or fairly expensive if going for the wild caught fish or grass fed beef, and there's almost always at least $10 of wine consumed...
So in all, anywhere from $15 on the low end to $100+ on the high end would be my best estimate. Every once in awhile I'll just go nuts (like here & here) and spend hundreds on a single meal, but those moments are few and far between. Food is one of the things in life I am most comfortable splurging on, much more so than the latest gadget, a car (always buy used), cable TV (cut it out almost ten years ago), video games or what not.

For a family of three we averaged $700 a month over the past 12 months. That come to $7.65 per day, per person. This includes groceries, fast food, restaurants, alcohol and bars and coffee shops.
My daughter is still small, so maybe she eats half a full person's cost. Then it would come to $9.18.

I'm trying to determine if I'm burning too much money on food. Imm not sure sure if $25/day is reasonable or significantly above what other people spend per day. I'm wondering if I need to either reduce cost, or the quantity of food that I eat.
I'm also looking for ways to save money.
I feel like I could cut out some of the late-night snacking and drinking. This would probably help my waistline too. I really don't need to be snacking on $5-$10 worth of nuts, cheese, and beer before bed every night.
I could also make my own coffee, which would save about $2.00 per day.

Pretty cool geo - Thank you for linking those restaurants from past threads you had created, I enjoyed reading them just now. And I completely agree with yoour last sentiment - of all the expenses in our budget, food is the the only one that I will not think twice about splurging on - granted I usually only go nuts at the grocery store.
Between my wife and I - we spend roughly 132.78/week on food /7 =18.96/day /2 $9.48 on myself for food
Keep in mind I rarely eat out, and this number would probably be double/triple if we did. We are big fans of the grill, and eat lots of proteins. We eat pretty much whatever we want, we just make it at home to keep it affordable.

I am always on the go and constantly working on this project or that one.
A few years back I cut consumption of alcohol and hard drugs to what most would consider a recreational level. This was coupled with the end of a three year relationship. I don't want to think of what I was spending a day on food and drinks before we split, well over $100.
I don't enjoy cooking meals for one because I fancy myself a bit of a gourmet and prefer to cook for at least four or more. So I dine out nearly every meal. I also was overweight 100+lbs(feeling great at a healthy weight these days!) so I don't keep a lot of junk food in the house anymore because I'll wind up getting stoned and eating it all in the middle of the night like a werepig or something.
Coffee with a lot of raw sugar starts my day for $1.69, then depending on if I eat(I try to go at least one day a week without eating), I will spend anywhere from 5-40 for a meal out, later on in the evening. this depends on if I get a couple tacos from a food cart or dine in a restaurant. I spend about $40 a week on drinks for the house, some juice and a little soda made with real sugar. I'll buy beer to keep in the fridge if I notice I'm out, but it is not as important as it used to be.

My old lady and I spend about $150/week at the grocery store. We also eat out a decent amount, probably spending another $100-150 eating out. I think the math works out to about $20-25 per day.

Every week my household account gets topped off with $90 for food and small expenses and usually every once in so many weeks I scoop a big sum back into my main account.
Why a household account? Cards get scammed, skimmed and stolen, or you get coerced to empty your account at the nearest ATM and hand it over. It also helps to keep your spending pattern in check in case you get any wild drug induced ideas My household account cannot overdraw in any way, pure debit and never holds a critical amount of money, nor is it connected to any bills. So, the card is entirely expendable and in fact the whole account is. Not a Mastercard but a Slavecard, heh Its an easy feeling.

Ask anyone on food stamps. That's all I get. I feel lucky if I get one meal every day of the week. By the end of the month I'm eating every other day or every three days.
Ramen and tap water really is most of my meals. I prefer Mac nd cheese and water, but milk and butter are a little expensive to make the mac nd cheese so thats a "treat".

Nope. Had 10 consecutive years of solid work experience between three jobs where I moved up almost yearly as shown on my resume. Now I've been unemployed for two years. I spend at least 40 hours a week looking for a job. Sometimes I put out as many as 60 applications in a single day to only get four interviews in the last two years. At this point I need to spend hours searching for places that I haven't already applied to 3-4+ times and those kind of places are running out.

The few jobs I had recently interviewed for and seemed like I was going to start working ended up telling me i had a "red referral" on my background check and they couldn't disclose for what exactly because they supposedly don't see the actual background check they just get a "green, yellow, red" rating apparently.
I have a misdemeanor from 2010 where I got arrested for 1/2 a gram and a pipe. That could potentially be the red flag, or it could be my fucked up credit. Have at least 6 bills in collections right now. I went back to an old job of mine thinking I'd easily get back in since I had a great record there. I was then told by HR that they're more likely to hire somebody with a felony than someone with a petty drug related misdemeanor and said that's the mentality of most companies now days. Or it could be from this gap of unemployment I'm now in, or it can be an error on my background check, who knows.
So I'm trying to scrape up some money right now to do a background check on myself to see what turns up, then if I can identify anything, it'll probably be something that costs thousands of dollars to fix, which I'll have to magically pull out of my ass to have a chance at getting a job.
Oh, and today was the first time I've missed rent. End of the 5 day grace period and I'm still $870 short. All out of backup plans after two years of making ends meet somehow. I'm all out of personal possessions to sell anymore. This could be the end of the road unless a miracle occurs but I'm not expecting anything like that because it's unrealistic. I guess not everybody is meant to make it in life.

Hey don't get down on yourself, and keep trying. You should look at assistance programs like SNAP for food, and a rent controlled property - or take in a room-mate or move in with one.
I took in a room-mate, and it gave me extra income, and cut my utilities down. Sometimes it sucks, but overall it's worth it.
Anyways, I splurge at the grocery store on NY strip steaks, and crab legs - usually once a week or so, but I don't buy ANYTHING from convenience stores, and I gave up most of my vices. I might buy a 6 pack once a month or so. But keep at it, something good will happen to you I'm sure.
Also, try to eat fresh/in season stuff. Its a lot cheaper if you can. I always have an ear of corn, potatoes (or fries) and salads. And I still eat Ramen noodles.
When I worked, I couldn't believe the amount of food I threw away/over bought. Now I am really careful about it.
