Mex B casing (to long colonised?)
    #2340343 - 02/16/04 09:46 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

I just birthed thi mex B casing, its colonised wheat straw cased with
multipurpose compost, oyster shell, verm and crushed egg shell.

i kept reading that you need to let it colonise longer than you
would cubensis, but on reading a recent post by workman, it
seems this is not the case. As he didnt even colonise his last
batch, just cased and fruited.

so my question is, does anyone think I'll have problems fruiting
it, as I let it go a bit?

WOW, Your getting some overlay there definatly. Fruit that casing now. Overlayed mycilium wont have anything grow from it because it is dead.

Personally you want to fruit when you have patches all over but not full colonization.

Yes, I was under the impression i had to over colonise
Psilocybe mexicana before fruiting, but we shall see.

I think it will be ok, I can see knots forming I think.

Its just the flash
Lots of the tiny white dots are
knots forming, for more pins.

Nope, different user, not me.

well, i think i did over colonise, as the whiter patches arent
producing as many pins as the still soil patches.
Live and learn, next time will be better

The Psilocybe mexicana (?) I got as a gift from a good friend.
But my first prints, I got from the f.s.r.e.
For 5 euros i got 3 strains

But any of the shroomery vendors are are pretty good.
The only one I can personaly recommend is
http://www.sporeworks.com/
Who came through for me.

The key is to get 1 strain, then trade for different ones.

Good luck, its a nice hobby

P.S Golden teacher is my favourite(and the pins
I showed as a size comparison), but this
might be due to it being my first grow
All strains have there + side.

Nice one Loki

I was thinking of using wheat straw as well but with tampanensis/atlantis as it seems a good all round substrate in general.

Your pics seem to have proved that so far.

Did you use rye grass seed to spawn the straw or just regular old millet?
