Hi all,
Picked what i thought where subs but my friends insists there not as the stems arnt white like a few in the photo. Picked from my usual spot in hills where i do get plenty of good ones. These have a much darker stem then normal but the characteristics r the same. Would like a ti to let me know if there subs or not, taking spore print aswell. Do subs only have the purple spore print and if there not subs what are they. Thanks

They most definitely look like subs from the hills area I've picked. I hear waterlogged subs have dirtier stems and less easily exhibit blue bruising. Perhaps as they dry out the bruising would be more apparent? I can definitely see bruising in some of those stems. But yeah, do your spore prints. A T.I. should give you better peace of mind.

I had a similar question about some maggots/larvae in some fruit, here is what I was told

You don't need to throw away mushrooms because of the maggots, they're not dangerous to consume although maybe a bit unappetizing to some. They usually crawl out as the mushrooms dry, anyway. You can also do them in by putting your infested mushrooms in a cup or whatever, blow some unhealthy puffs of cigarette smoke down into it and cover for a few minutes. You can be sure they won't survive it.
Hope it helps!!
