Subs with freckles? possible wild patch contamination. tasmania
    #23402735 - 07/01/16 11:38 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

Hey guys what do you guys make of this?

I've never seen subs with spots like this on them before? after a quick search of the forums I found a similar thread from 2009. They claimed it was maggots eating their way out. Well, I pulled a few apart and didn't find any bugs. Probably just going to throw them away I'd rather not risk getting sick. What do you guys think?

They look like they might just be maggot spots (damaged tunneled out flesh that maggots burrowed out) in which case they are still fine to eat and will give an added protein boost!

Honestly if it were me I wouldn't worry about it, but I am a dummy so wait to see what other people say

you have a really cool funky P. azurescens style genotype going on there.

are they all blue staining?

those spots could be a variety of reasons, maggots, uneven drying, damage from other factors.

Yeah man they are all blue da ba dee da ba die :mushroom2: It's amazing how different they look from patch to patch. I wasn't convinced these were subs until I took a closer look and noticed the bluing. they are bug free so I'm guessing it's just sun spots or something like that. Thanks for the replies guys happy hunting
