Psilocybe Cubensis Lizard King Grow

On 6/24 I inoculated one quart WBS jar using a syringe of Lizard King spores. I only did one jar because the other jars I prepared were inoculated with a Pan Cyan syringe. Today the Lizard King jar showed some signs of life so I figured I would start a little log of sorts. I was thinking of doing G2G once the jar is done colonizing. Maybe go from this one jar out to 6-10 jars. I plan on doing a couple mono tubs. What do you guys think?
I actually decided to not do any G2G with the jar. Instead I spawned to Coir/Verm and put to fruit in a monotub side by side with a tray that was spawned with 1 qt KSSS. Pics below!

Gave her a peek today and updated original post. It has been 12 days since inoculation she seems to be coming along pretty nicely. I also have 1 jar I knocked up with a KSSS syringe on the same day and it's showing about the same amount of progress.

Updated the original post with some new pictures today. Been 2 weeks since the first sign of growth. Would you guys say it is close to 30%? Also here is a bonus pic of my KSSS jar

Doesn't seem to be slowing down to me it's spreading at at steady rate. Moving a bit slow but pretty steady.

Shook the LK jar as well as the KSSS jar on the 17th checked on em today and they seem to be recovering okay. The LK jar still seems to be moving a bit slow but it's moving. The KSSS jar on the other had picked up some speed after the shake. Here is a photo of that jar.

I've decided that I am going to mix both the LK jar and the KSSS jar into the same 27 quart mini mono. I'm not sure the best hole configuration to go with on a tub that size tho? I was thinking about just running with the standard hole set up. Anyways here is a photo of the KSSS jar and I updated the OP with LK pics.

You think so? Do you know of any logs where people have done something similar? I see a lot of people say that it won't make much of a difference if you mix spawn but I can't seem to find grows that actually went thru with it. I have 5 jars of AA+ going now and they are looking pretty good so I figured I would wait for those to do a full size mono and turn these 2 jars into a bit of an experiment. But if you guys have seen people try this and it became a cluster of fuck I may just reconsider my options.

I've done something similar, most people do at one point. I've never had as good a flush off two different varieties of cubes as I would from just one.

I would just do two trays in the mono. that way you can grow both and still reap the benefits of the environment created by the mono-tub design. Just make sure the trays take up as much space a possible.
Good luck

This sounds like an awesome idea I'll probably stop by good ol' Walmart after work tonight and hunt for some trays.

Both jars are close to finished colonizing and don't look bacterial to me?
I'm hoping to spawn in 3-4 days.

So I found these trays that fit into my tub pretty well they are only 2.5In. deep but all the 3+ Deep ones were to large for the tub. Should I keep the plastic kids on the trays during colonization or just ditch them?

if theyre going in the mono then you dont need the lids. I would suggest that you line them with plastic (Just slip a small trash or supermarket bag over them before putting your sub in). The myc will eat the aluminum after a while. Good luck and keep the posts coming
Look closely and you will see the bag

I went ahead and spawned today. Didn't put a liner in the foil wish I read your post prior to spawning lol I had no idea the myc would start eating aluminum! We live and we learn right? I posted a pic of the trays in the OP. Wish them luck!

Its ok. Actually if I remember its the metabolites that dissolve the aluminum but I could be wrong. You should get at least one flush before you start seeing holes and by then it would be so consolidated you could just move the whole sub into another container.

Looks pretty good. there is always a possibility of bacteria but for the most part it looks healthy and normal. If those are exposed grains I see you should keep your eyes ope for contams. I have experienced higher contam rates when grain is exposed if its not fully colonized. I always throw a very thin layer of sub over the mix to cover any exposed grains (just to be safe) and it has helped. This is not a casing layer. Its just enough to barely cover any exposed grains.

Okay sweet those little spots of spiky brighter white mycelium had me worried I never saw anything that looked like that in my past grows but I'm probably just being paranoid lol. Also I will keep in mind covering the exposed grains next time. Somebody told me that before but it managed to slip out of my mind. I would be so happy with just one good flush out of these guys.

I would case with some fine vermiculite/peat, or just straight verm and put it straight into the fc. And bacterial or not, it looks pretty healthy still. I expect an awesome first flush out of these.

They have been in fruiting for about 3 days now I think. I'm hoping to see some pins in the next couple days. Does anybody else find it hard to not just sit there with the lid off staring at the mycelium? It's so captivating. Send y'alls good vibes this way I'm still hoping for a decent flush out of these guys!

Here is the first flush off the LK tray was about 380 grams wet. Not too bad for one qt of MS spawn!

If anybody was curious I finally had a chance to test the potency of both varieties.
Based on the two experiences I had the KSSS was very noticeably stronger than the LK. I had 5 dried grams of both and didn't eat for around 18 hours before both trips. The only thing that changed was the location. The LK I took at home with my girlfriend while we watched Wayne's World (part 1 and 2...excellent) and the KSSS I took at my dads lake house in middle of nowhere Texas with my girlfriend and my older brother. The LK trip was amazing the visuals were pretty heavy and my body felt like it was melting into the bed and my girlfriend. At one point for some reason I grabbed a handful of her hair and tried to put it in her eyes yelling "I'll give you hairy eyes!" We both laughed at this until we were in pain and had tears pouring down our face. Overall it was a beautiful trip but was similar to most cube trips I've had. The KSSS was a bit different than most of the mushroom trips I've had. We took them up on the deck around 10 so we would be able to watch the stars while we trip (the stars out there are insane) once the trip started I could instantly tell that it was going to be very powerful. The visuals came on much heavier much sooner than usual and usually I only experience slight nausea for about 10-15 minutes while my body gets used to its new state and then I feel fine. But this time was different I felt naseous for much longer and more of a sick feeling than normal. After about (total guess) 30-45 minutes of being out on the deck looking at the stars i was still feeling sick so my girlfriend and I went inside of the house to lie down. Lying down helped me feel much better but I couldn't completely shake the feeling of sickness which was making my trip pretty uncomfortable. Then all of a sudden it hit me that Since I had such a sick feeling I was trying to fight against the trip and told myself "hey dummy you are supposed to surrender to the mushrooms and let them do their thing quit being so worried!" And as soon as I thought about that the visuals got extremely intense to the point it was almost overwhelming and I had to just close my eyes. Once my eyes were closed all of the silly things I was worried about and that feeling of sickness disappeared and it felt as if I disappeared with them. Behind my closed eyes I could see amazingly beautiful colors and patterns that I don't even want to attempt describing beyond just calling them beautiful. I have no idea how long my eyes were closed but all of a sudden I started remembering that I was a person and that I was laying in bed with my girlfriend so I opened my eyes to see her just laying there looking at me smiling and all of the worries and nausea were gone all that was left was amazing visuals and that familiar melting into the bed feeling. I suppose it could be argued that the different and slightly less familiar setting is what caused the KSSS trip to be so much more intense but A buddy of mine also tested both the in the same location and also said that the KSSS was much stronger. Anyways just thought I'd share in case anybody was curious! I've learned my lesson and I'm going to start only taking an 8th to test new batches so I don't end up feeling so sick again!

Lmao! My girl probably knows I'm gone when I start throwing out all kinds of "what ifs" like what if life is a virtual reality and the voice in your head is the dude running the show wearing the headset? What if babies are just tripping really hard? Shit like that

Haha our poor chicks LMAO I was tripping pretty hard one night and she was kinda sick and had to work she was slowly telling me to go and take some shit offthe table and take the clothes out the drier by the time I walked to the kitchen(5 feet) I'd scratch my head like wait what??? Haha she finally got pissed and did it herself then I kept taking the clothes out of the hamper and smelling them and then put them back in the drier she was so pissed and wasn't noticing seriously we probably took twenty minutes to unload it haha

OP great thread and grow.... also a good realisation you had mid trip this will stand you in good stead. My missus knows to leave me be if the jazz is playing...also its my code for iam going to trip tonight "listening to jazz". Then once its over I give her the breakthrough that I inevitably believed I had. I am quite lucky.

Nice, I am starting 4 monos of my favorite cubes in the whole wide world. KSSS and PE. Both strains are so much stronger than normal cubes, and I personally like to have my face melted off when I trip.
Looks fuckin great man, lmk if you ever wanna trade any prints. I would love love love to have a print of your KSSS.
