I was considering posting that song or "the metal" but instead just got really baked and watched some random Tenacious D videos

Geoff Peterson said: I think it's normally done on a lap steel, and apparently he just played that song for the first time outside of being with Pink Floyd very recently. He nailed it on lap steel. I think he does it both ways, cos on the Pompeii dvd he uses his regular electric guitar the whole time and I can't remember if it was a Tele but I think it was a Strat. Regardless, his sound was fucking huge on that track.
I know on the PULSE dvd/ cd he uses a lap steel. The bbc version is hard to tell, could be a lapsteel for sure but it has solid electric guitar sound too.
Think I saw an article about him playing it live recently actually now that you mention it.
Pink Floyd definitely influenced a ton of different people and genres, many whom probably don't even realize it.

I watched that movie a ton as a kid too Used to sing along to the whole movie with a childhood friend, we knew pretty much all the words
Classico is one of my favorite songs/ scenes in that movie, everything about it is great.

Saw this posted on Acidmath - checks out.
The scaly foot gastropod is the only known organism to incorporate iron into it's skeleton, making it the most metal organism on the planet.

buckethead's got a ton of stuff, one good album of weird speed metal shit he recorded with Brain the drummer is called "The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell" and another weird one i like called Elephant Man's Alarm Clock (not so much speed metal just weird buckethead shit) with a Lovecraft inspired suite of like 4 tracks that make one long movement, called "Lurker At the Threshold".
