im going to go out and buy a concentrate, but, since im in australia (no lysol) and rural at that (no aerosol period with anything stronger than or with nothing active BUT ethanol), i need to find the right kind.
Ive read that Quaternary ammonium compounds are the one to look out for, so what are some examples ill see on a label or associated MSDS?
normally i use a combination of ethanol (glen 20) + pure iso after wards and water to dilute, as its a pure iso spray, then wipe, spray with peroxide 6%, then re-spray more glen 20 after and leave that on there, but it seems its not good enough, also i dont like using flammables in the box what with the flame sterilization and all. also all of those things are expensive as hell.
Its hardly effective, incase anyone wanted to bag me on that, im admitting that, and looking for an alternative, but again also, im not in america, rural australia, so they dont like shipping the more harmful aerosols it seems.
So, when i go out looking, what do i look for? town has one cleaning shop which sells a bunch of dangerous looking chems, and also one of the pharmacies sells a medical scrub cleaner of sorts thats worth a look if its a concentrate.
Im after this as a general disinfectant also since the goto- 70% iso is a tad bit expensive the way id like to use it, also it screws up any spray bottles i put it in.
So, what do i look for? benzalkonium chloride? or benzyl ammonium chloride, what?

The only disinfectant you even need is isopropyl alcohol, and that's just to wipe down jar lids and spray your gloves with. I haven't used any disinfectant spray in quite a while, don't think it really helps all that much.

thats your experience, mine however is that iso is inneffective, flammable and corrosive to many binders and plastics, had many lighters burst from reactions with it. Disregarding the fact it costs over $100/L for 70%, the scientifically proven more effective ammonia compounds cost under $40 for a bottle that will make up to 50L or more of solution. Its fine for a quick wipe down for sure. and as the actual dirt/etc cleaning component, it clean surfaces, physically, quite well, plus it cleans my glass view.
But, i need something more effective and less costly

If the bulk of what you're using this for is spraying the inside of a still air box then you can just use soap and water. I just use water.
Iso ends up not costing that much when you don't use it for very many things, is what I'm saying. I spray my gloves and paper towels and that's it. You could use whatever you want, I flame sterilize but have never exploded anything because I use the iso sparingly. With a box flooded with fumes I'd be paranoid too though..
I'm not suggesting iso to ironically chastise you for your disposition against it, just to let you know you may be overthinking the process if you're using lots of disinfectant.

Disinfectants aren't gonna do you much good. Sterile tek is still needed, regardless of how efficient your disinfectants are. It's true, iso is all you will ever need.
But damn, 100bux per Litre? I buy 100% alcohol for 20euro per gallon or some shit like that.
As for lysol, we don't get that in my country either. I use oust but only for spraying the filter face of my FH before use. I am pretty sure I could do without it but it's one of those things I do on impulse really. Just something to ease the mind.
