Clone test: Poop n stuff vs coir verm 11

Hi! I ain't really done much this year so far other than some edibles. But I have here a grow that should be interesting. It is a test of 3 clones of pins that popped up on the ms plates of what was to be my 4th generation of rustywhyte. So far so good, got me 12 quarts, four for each clone. The plan is to spawn them to 6 mini monos, 2 quarts per mini. There in side by side conditions the clones will go head to head to see which one makes the cut. I also plan to run coir verm vs a manure sub of some kind. I got a bit of sheep, and some horse poo kicking around. Maybe even some worm castings. See if the extra work pasteurizing is worth it.
Thursday June 30th
The spawn is ready, I could spawn tonight. But they gonna need to wait until Sunday.
Here is a quick snap of the spawn. Its looking happy.

Sunday July 3rd
Okay so we got 6 mini's spawned with the 3 clones. All are 3 quarts sub to 2 quarts spawn. There are 3 coir verm tubs and 3 coir verm hpoo worm castings tubs. Should be interesting how they do on the different substrates. Hear an lot about how coir verm can't stack up to poo so this should be fun to watch. Good sample size and some fairly controlled genetics.

Tubs were cased with coir and are already in fruiting conditions. I had a good run doing it like that so far so I am going to continue. These mini's are my shorter ones, I use em for APE and PE mainly. So the test for these clones is to hit the lids. If one can do that, its a keeper Stay tuned.
Thursday July 7th
Quick bump. Tubs are colonizing spawn run well and mycelium is starting to break through the pseudo coir casing. I have decided a quick patch might be a good idea for these to keep the potential consistent. A quick look at said tubs.
Clone A. Tubs are coir on the left, poo on the right

Clone B

Clone C

July 21st. . .
Harvest begins. . .
Clone A Coir
So clone A was ready for some printing action and partial harvest this morning. The remainder was harvested when I got home from work. The coir tub did pretty good, total wet yield was 878 wet grams. Pretty decent IMO for 2 quarts spawn actually. Got a nice pic of the filled centers of the big fruits, nothing hollow here
Clone A this morning

This evening

Substrate is pretty spent. Overall I am fairly happy.
Clone A Poo
Poo sub also did well with clone A. Total yield was 818 grams wet, just a little under the coir yield. I attribute this to the extra water that the coir can hold compared to poo which just gets muddy if you added as much to it. Remember the nutes are in the grain spawn, its water that counts with bulk.
Morning harvest

Evening harvest

Clone B Coir
Both the clone B tubs are about a day behind the others, it wasn't ready for harvest or printing as of this morning, and I am probably gonna need to get up early to finish tomorrow. Got a print going now. While clone B was the yield loser it did have the biggest fruits. It should be noted that clone B on coir actually did not too bad, but the poo really shit the bed.
Evening harvest

End of first flush harvest

Wow, clone B on coir ended up doing better than it looked. Guess pinset ain't everything when you got monsters like these. 1023 grams wet
Clone B Poo
Clone B put out some real monsters but seemed to do poorly on the poo. I suspect again this is a water issue. Huge fruits need huge water supply. If I ever grow this one on poo again I am either going to add straw into the mix or a lower spawn ratio. Evening harvest

End of first flush harvest

Clone B poo ended up with a final tally of 875 wet grams. Short of the coir by a big mark but still a bigger yield than I expected. Bastard also put out a huge amount of bottom pins. Almost no side pins. . . bottom pins. Odd that it only happened on two of the tubs both of them poo tubs.
Clone C Coir
Clone C did alright, tho I noticed what seemed like a lot of side pins in the poo tub. Even the coir tub had a few. I finished harvest of the top of the poo tub and pulled the sub out to get at the side pins. The sub seemed really spend despite what seemed like a lower yield. I then flipped the sub and saw the most bottom pins I have ever seen. They gave no fucks about the liner. No fucks. Unbelievable. Still waiting on some in the coir tub to finish, they will be pulled in the morning with the rest of the B clone.
Morning harvest

Evening harvest

End of first flush harvest

Clone C totaled 992 wet grams. Better than I thought it would actually. I really loved the way the fruits at the tail end of the flush turned out, they really bulked up a lot. Glad I left em to grow.
Clone C Poo
So clone C bottom pinned like no ones fucking business. Unless a miracle occurs with the B clones it will have the biggest yield of all the tubs in this run. But I consider the bottom pinning to be a strike, it had the same conditions as all other tubs, I ain't about dicking around with a harvest on the bottom. Final yield with clone C on poo is a whopping 960 wet grams.
Morning harvest

Evening harvest

Final tale of the scale
Clone A
Coir: 878 grams Poo: 818 grams
Clone B
Coir: 1023 grams Poo: 875 grams
Clone C
Coir: 992 grams Poo: 960
Coir VS Poo was 2893 grams to 2653 grams in favor of the coir. Best yield was clone B surprisingly enough, I thought for sure it was gonna be the goat. However it seems like clone C was the best average between the substrates and Clone A was the fastest harvest and best top pinset. I am gonna need to think on things and sample some of the fruits of my labour before I decide which one gets the nod for the 5th gen. No matter which one I go with, I think these are all decent candidates, I could have far worse to choose from.

Looking very healthy. I am extremely excited to see the side by sides. I have recently made quite a bit of spawn from clones and have been wanting to do the same thing. I have 3 clones and 12 jars per clone. I normally run 1:2 ratio at 4 jars per tub. Do you think I would be happy with a 1:4 ratio with 8qt of sub? I have never gone 1:4 before but I'd like to make the most out of the clones. Thanks for the feedback and sorry to steal room on your fresh thread.

I would love to try my hand at the RustyWhyte! On another note if you did use worm casings, how much would you use and what kind of mixture would you use?

Not... really, but sort of. Tissue biopsy to agar, grown out and used to inoculate grain spawn. A clone is multiple genetics at once though, a sort of conglomerate genetic profile, rather than a single organism. An isolate/monoculture is more like a cannabis clone, being just one set of genetics.
