Uh what? Isn't it just called rap? WTF is wrong with you dude?
But for me it can be alot of things. Grateful dead, Tool, Umphrey's Mcgee, Tipper, Franz Ferdinand, Tame Impala, Air are some artist I really get down on.
But seriously you are a pretty uncool dude.

Why would you listen to rap before a trip? Set and setting!

I'm a fan of classical, especially Baroque stuff. Lot of Vivaldi on heavy rotation while I'm tripping. Also a bit of Bach, especially the stuff for strings. I've definitely cried a cheeky tear or two while listening to Cello Suite 6, especially the Gavotte
I don't listen to a huge amount while sober, but I find that I'm particularly attuned to the mathematical patterns and relationships of the major scales when I'm tripping. It's like an audible fractal that sort of massages my brain. Impossible to put into words.
A good example is the Presto movement from Summer.

Check out the label "Deep Medi Musik" it's run by my favorite producer/Dj Mala. The whole point of it is to "meditate on bass weight" - music driven by a deep and powerful bassline with intracuit percussion and never over-the-top in your face. Everytime I introduce someone to Musik they claim it's incredibly thought-provoking and deep

Anything that provides harmony, creates tranquility or has influential meaning, or really anything that tunes the mind to the right frequency hits the spot.

Agreed! There's just something about strings and vibrations that goes perfectly with trippin. There's a purity to it.
Check out these YT channels too (mostly covers) love the depth of sound from Joanna's viola.

Alot of the time I will start my trip with oldschool hip-hop or gangster rap, then I tend to listen to more heavier music like doom/sludge or even some black/death metal or sometimes even ambient electronic music like Ulver. It all depends D's on how I feel at the time. I will almost always listen to Steely Dan when I'm tripping. They have such a pristine sound that is totally entrancing while tripping

Listen to some Porcupine Tree when you get a chance, not even tripping. Just listen to them, great group.
Enya and Andrea Bocelli are some of my favorites nowadays for dosed listening. Other than that, Floyd, the Dead, Led Zep...All GREATS!

Hell yeah man.. Gavin Harrison is a personal favorite. The whole band knows how to rock with style, though.
