nature question
    #23398315 - 06/30/16 05:29 PM (7 years, 8 months ago)

Was visiting my grandparents and noticed a nest of daddy long legs (the nest basically looks like a huge bundle of the spiders, honestly kind of terrifying) situated about 9 inches from a red wasp nest.

Will they eventually kill each other?
Who will win?

Should I kill them both?

Daddy long-legs are actually among the most venomous spiders known to man, but their fangs are too tiny to pierce our human flesh thereby rendering them harmless to us

Actually upon further research I have realized that is actually a myth

There are actually a few different creatures referred to as daddy long-legs - some of them are in a completely unique class of their own, others are actually spiders but apparently the idea that they are extremely poisonous is incorrect

So ya I think the wasps will probably win but I dunno for sure

The wasps would annihilate the daddy long legs if they wanted to. I doubt they will though. Wasps prefer to prey on insects with more meat on them like wolf spiders. I once saw a hornet and wolf spider duking it out on the ground.

The hornet lol. I wonder if it eventually died from being bit by the spider though. Hornets are some crazy bastards.

Just seems so crazy they would nest up so close to each other..

But yeah I am going to merk the Long legs.
Maybe eventually get to the wasps
They are like bunched up on the roof of the front porch..

Most wasps prey on a single species of insect.

Naw, they'd peacefully co-exist as neither one are natural enemies. Just nuke the Red Wasp nest because them fuckers are bad.

Nope, they are not venomous in any way, something which you would have learned had you read the this whole thread.

brake or carb cleaner does a good job of wiping out a wasp nest in a hurry.  kills them on contact.
