I prefer to use millet and I've been buying it at whole foods where its like 1.70 per lb. Is there a cheaper way? I'd rather avoid the whole wild birdseed thing and just stick with millet or wheat berries.

ugh whole foods.
You should be looking for feed stores or tractor supply co or something. I buy a 50 lb bag of oats for 20$. 40 cents a lb.
Usually loose millet at a feed store will run $1 /lb

Then go slightly outside of said big city to save tons of money.. 50lb bags of grain are only 13 dollars here, Sloppy has the highest price I've heard of.

Ya I get a 50lb bag of oats for 12 bucks here in the south. Tryna start up a small organic medicinal and gourmet business though so I'll probably be switching some time soon, which sucks

I'm not sure if it's okay to plug a non vendor but I buy my organic rye grain from honeyville, their site is easy to navigate and their prices aren't far off from mycosupply or fungiperfect, free shipping on bulk orders so my 50 pounds is pretty nice, about 1$ per pound.
There isn't a whole foods, organic store or grain depot in any of the surrounding counties so this is my only option from Bird seed
