Makeshift Laminar - Will this work?
    #23397657 - 06/30/16 01:54 PM (7 years, 6 months ago)

I've been using the Oven method for G2G and inoculating with spore syringes, but now I want to start doing some Agar and don't want to squat in front of the oven for that.

I've got this really nice UV / Hepa fan and want to know if I could build a little cardboard or plexiglass box around it and work inside there.

It's got a very low 'low' fan speed setting, but I'm not sure how to figure out the CFM.

The unit is pretty small, so the box would have to be at least 6-8 inches wider on both sides .. not sure if that presents a problem.

My indoor air is super clean since I run this thing a lot, and always do an Ozone shock before I start working with sterile stuff.

Is this worth a try?

Be very careful with UV radiation! If you set that thing up in a glovebox it should work real good. Wait for a more experienced opinion.

You mean blowing inward from the outside to keep clean air pushing bad air out the holes?
