I have a mentor who is an elder in the Lakota ways of the Peyote church. The NAC charter has ceremonies at her house.
I also have a mentor who is Mexica/Apache and is teaching me Sundance ways.
Another elder who doesn't like to call himself an elder knows a lot about Huicholes ways, and I see myself learning the deepest wisdoms from him even though he doesn't openly teach.

I just listen to The Spirit and it's guidance. I believe things are different or can be different for everyone. Life connected me with both the owls and the hawks in my area, not to mention the coyotes where I used to live on the other side of town. I haven't sought them out, we just met by chance, or perhaps fate.

Cool man, you do you. They will all lead you down different paths and it's possible to get them confused. Be wary of that. Ometeotl will bring a mentor into your life one day. Tradition is important in these ways.

I hear ya crow.
Had a similar experience with a water moccasin.
Was practicing Qigong, and while I was in a deep trance...
I had an epiphany.
I realized I am much like the snake. Initially I didn't like this too much.
But I've come to see the snake is a misunderstood creature.
He doesn't care what you think about him and he is intimidating.
If you approach him with confidence you can handle him.
He will strike if feel threatened, or just bask if the sun if he feels like it.
The most fascinating aspect is the ability the shed its skin.
I interpret this as the shedding of ones ego.
Snakes are dopeeee, man.

You're spot on about the confidence part. Catching venomous snakes is something I really got into about 5 years back. Confidence and a calm mind are key.

Fascinating, I actually moved out to my reserve for a few different reasons. Getting in touch with my roots was one of the primary reasons. I've been slowly inching my way towards them and making connections but its taking time, and these elders are more often then not full of shit, or so I've been finding. Coming across someone who holds true wisdom is proving more difficult then I initially thought it would be.

Which reservation? A lot of them vary quite a bit. Some nations have almost entirely lost their culture, and as a result it's hard to find elders with wisdoms passed on from ancient times.

Saulteux. theres a few who are keen on the old ways but theyre hostile to my family. We attempted to seize power last election so they were less then friendly when I approached them. Theres gotta be a few left who are willing to pass it on to the right person. I think I just gotta prove myself to them to be let in.

Lifes complex, no matter where it springs up. We all the same negro, but to answer your question no. I came up with it trying to be all poetical about death. The raw meaning is an allusion to the bond between enlightenment and death and the finality of going back to it all.

Damn I thought I had it. Your name got me curious I googled it and on Wikipedia I noticed in the "in popular culture" tab it had runescape listed as having skeletons called that. That plus your avatar had me like 85% sure.
So are you part Celtic or Breton or whatever then?

I purposely made it so it'd be difficult to decode. My titles pretty dope too. I came across it one night blitzed out of my mind reading about these wild battles Daimyo would wage over power in fuedal Japan. Will so strong failure would lead to self imposed evisceration. Fucking unreal.
