It's entirely sterilized. There's absolutely no microbes in there. Thats why it doesn't matter what you do with your coir. Poo and straw need pasteurization, definitely not coir. I could pull infinite amounts of quotes supporting this, but I'm buttfuck tired lol.
Your spawn was definitely off man. You can scratch your ass during spawning and sneeze on it every day and it won't contam. People have left sterilized coir out for 6+ months with no contams. Suddenly you add grains and it contams... coincidence? I think not.

It's almost always the spawn. Even more so with coir.

I can honestly say every contam I had was from my own stupidity. Not from environment. I've never bleached a room. I rarely clean my tubs, and my tubs have the same spore stained black poly from 2012. I live on a 1970s farm near a forest with 4 dogs, and every contam I've traced back to me doing dumb shit. Bleaching your workspace is like the last thing I'd do, and it's never been the reason why I succeed or fail.

I'm going to try to get good pictures of my spawn this go around. Do you think my grains could be too wet?
I guess i'll also skip the pasteurization.
These 14 jars are the first ones I have done in front of my flowhood.

Oh boy. I stirred up more trouble than I fixed with bleach bombing. RR used to say to bleach bomb a room before switching on your hood. I had just built my hood and like a good little acolyte, I started to bleach bomb the entire fucking room. Couple months later, the wood on my hood was literally covered in green spores. You couldn't see the mold but the amount of spores it released made my hood look totally dark green. Not streaked or lined but totally green. I cleaned it up with alcohol soaked paper towels and from every side of the FH, I ended up filling 2 paper towels with a 1cm blob of spores.
Haven't used bleach since. Had to varnish my FH because it kept coming back twice a week. I need to give it a second coating because it's still releasing spores from the cracks where the varnish didn't penetrate.

cleaning your room makes little sense if you're using a SAB. still air, good sterile technique and of course use agar so you're giving the cube myc a good start away from contams.

Bleaching your room made your flowhood grow mold all over it? Fucking weird.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it myself. The amount of spores it was creating was fucking disgusting. Lemme see if Ican take a pic, probably not now because there is only very little cracks where it's showing.

Oh yeah, I forgot I got lazy and didn't paint the back of the hood. I cleaned it up with an alco soaked paper towel for ya to see.

And this is where I painted the varnish on. You can see it's still easily visible where it didn't seal completely. I need to do another layer.

Bleach bombing only makes things worse, don't do it.

I believe that bleach bombing makes it worse now. Why didnt you share this new earlier. I just yesterday did a test with two paper towls one soaked with tap water and one with 1/10th bleach water and swiped them with the trish pile of compost i have and then put them in sealed ziplock bags. Plain water no trish spots and bleach water is half blueish trished runned over.
Ps setting a compost of trish coir on fire outside with gasoline doesn't get rid of it either just mad neighbors.
