The dark side of aya - Ayahuasca horror story
    #23380195 - 06/25/16 09:49 AM (7 years, 8 months ago)

The internet is full of positive stories, and as much as I know people don't wanna hear the bad ones, I'll share my one anyway. So I did 4 aya ceremonies 2 months ago. This is a year after I experienced a massive heart awakening after an iboga ceremony. I was in a really good place for the whole year, then went a bit numb before deciding to do ayahuasca and things haven't been so good for the past 1.5 months.

The first ceremony I did with a shaman who was really intense talking about demons and archangel michael, reptilians, the matrix, the battle between good and evil and dark stuff like that. I was struggling most out of everyone in the ceremony, and the shaman brought me into the other room to do a "demon removal" on me. The instant she did it, I started convulsing and screaming at the top of my lungs. I took on demonic facial expressions and all that. I knew I was harmless at the time, but it just felt like the thing to do at the time. She said she removed them from me, but I didn't feel like she removed anything. I felt bad throughout the ceremony, like something went wrong.

Then 3 weeks later I did a 5-day retreat, 3 ceremonies in a row. This time without a shaman. Exorcism like symptoms in all 3 ceremonies. I haven't felt right since. Understatement, I've gone completely numb, apathic and anhedonic. Like a zombie. Been having nightmares too. I was the only 1 out of 70 people that things went bad for, so its nothing to be scared of, but something to definitely be cautious about. If you experience intense shaking and stuff like that and feel like there are powerful dark forces at play, its best to do it with a shaman from then on, or just not do it again cuz its serious shit, I didn't take the dark stuff seriously and paid some consequences. I don't know what I'm gonna do now.

''talking about demons and archangel michael, reptilians, the matrix, the battle between good and evil and dark stuff like that''
That would scare the shit out of me and make me have a negative experience. I don't believe that ''shaman'' is helpful. A real shaman wouldn't speak about Christian angels or reptilians. That's just dumb in my opinion

fuck that "shaman". Sounds like someone who really just was hustling tourists. Real amazonian shamans don't believe in any of that western bullshit (aside from kinds of "demons"). Even the battle battle between "good and evil" is a purely anthropomorphic concept/outlook of the universe imo

For me, Aya has always been extra clear, my thought train lasts longer and I'm more patient and level-headed. You sound like you were stressed and confused. I only feel that way on high shroom doses. Maybe you need a smaller dose, or accept that temporary mental disintegration.

Where was your ceremony? I'd suggest finding a different group, or making it yourself. I extract down to the essential alkaloids and take my dmt + maoi in a capsule. The extract is a cleaner and easier experience. I haven't ever felt like a shaman is necessary.

Gotta go with all the others on this one.  The problem was the shaman, and possibly, the brew.  Do you know EXACTLY what went into it?  Did you see it prepared?  There are some plants out there (brugmansia - i.e. Datura comes to mind) that can get added which will put you in a mindset very different from "clean" ayahuasca.

I trust NO ONE but myself.  You want me to eat or drink a psychoactive substance? I've got to see it prepared from beginning to end.  Period.

N.B.

Lol , there are so many fake "shaman" around there hustling tourists into high quality experiences where you need to pay a lot.

As i am Spanish i am going directly to iquitos with my peruan friend.

We will go backpcking deep into the amazonas to a tribal culture his uncle is in.

A shaman would never say some things to you like that , they dont want you to have a bad experience. Kids also take it and theyr alright

Do you think im to young for ayahuasca with 19 altough kids there take it , it will be my first one.

Can anyone explain how it really feels like in a way. He told me you connect to the entire spirituality conexion that lives in the forest and you can interprete your future and other nasty things.

Are you actually aware of it when you do it , like are you choosing thoughts or does it all come to you , i really want to know how to enter the trip but i guess mis amigos los chamanes will guide me.

We all have our ups and downs with psychedelics, its just a phase in your life. It doesn't have to be good, or bad as it is neither, everything is perspective, free choice. I wouldn't think too hard on it, you don't want to overthink it, i've had bad experiences the best thing to do is move forward. You act like these symptoms are bad or negative, you're just changing. You went through a series of tramatic events, it's a benign substance so the best thing to do is move forward as best as you can. Realize you won't be like this forever or keep thinking you will be and fall to the power of your own thoughts.

Yeah sounds like system shock from overdoing it most likely.

Take a break from drugs for awhile and focus on healthy habits like eating well and exercising and hopefully you will feel good as new before you know it.

Brew it yourself and take it in the comfort of your own surroundings with the people you choose to be around. That's my philosophy atleast.

There is no way I would submit myself to a ring leader and let them guide a trip and supply the substance. Be comfortable in yourself and take the journey under your own guidance.

Bad Shaman. I would try it solo in a better setting. A beach or the wilderness accompanied with soothing music would be your best bet. See if you will like : "We plants are happy plants" for trip music. As a side note, angel, demons, ect. are all bullshit aspects of our society. You will never attain enlightenment with these ideas in your mind during or after a trip.
