Breakfast emergency, a quck question to the pub
    #23396393 - 06/30/16 05:12 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

So my new fridge was set too cold and froze my milk. My cereal time is in grave danger. So i never froze milk but apparently its still safe to drink but does it still taste decent enough to use?

Eat a better breakfast than milk and cereal! Get some superfoods in ya belly!!

I find a combination of oats, eggs, nuts, and a touch of fruit and milk to be the best after many years of experimenting. Cereal is (nutritionally) pretty crap.

How bad has it frozen? Can you shake it into slush and pour?

If not; allow to warm just enough to do that thing I just said. If so; do that thing I just said.

The milk won't care which.

Allow milk to chill in over-cold refrigerator until milk solids precipitate out. separate liquid fraction by coffee filter. pour 1" deep into a tapered glass and freeze solid. Remove now roughly cylindrical puck of whey from glass and rub one flat side of it with your thumbs until a concavity forms by melting. Holding refrigerator door open so light comes on, use your now concave lense to focus light onto first fraction until it warms. Combine with remaining whey, pour over cereal and enjoy science-breakfast of very slightly more than usually creamy cereal.

Actually the milk is more creamy now because the half that is ice has less of the goodies in them.

No danger, enjoy your applejack milk.

I'll experiment when i get back home, sticking with eggs this morning. The milk is frozen solid. Too bad was looking forward to cereal, haven't eaten any in forever. Thanks for the advice and snarky responses, been lacking that in my life as well
