I actually want mine to grow into little bushy plants. They look nice all filled out like:

And from what I understand, short stocky plants have more alkyloids. Am I off base? A tree would be nice, but I don't have room for a tree indoors, and Coca can't grow outside where I live. I am too far north.

So, I got this novo... It lost one of it's first true leaves, but still has a growth tip. Off to a rough start... I am trying not to provide them with artificial humidity this time, because I want them to harden off to my climate, but even some of the plants that seem to be doing alright are getting curled up leaves, and I've already lost a couple.
What do you guys think? To humidity, or not to humidity, that is the question... I live in the fucking desert, and temps have been in the 90's-100+ , but usually around 80-90 in their area of the house.

Humidity is a good thing. Seedlings are a lot easier to grow outside when it is humidity season here.
They do pretty well in a bathroom with a shower compared to the rest of the house, but then again I am not in a dry desert climate.

I think if they cant take the arid climate here, I dont wanna deal with trying to artificially create one for them. Just dont have it in me right now. I just got germination from 3 different khat strains though!

They are really cool plants and for me are set and forget You might try to put it in a bathroom with a shower that gets window light.

Definitely don't water more than once a day. Mine do not like drought at all though not as sensitive as a kratom for example. I look at them every day for signs of wilt starting.
I have a couple sprouted seeds I just planted

You need to pluck them regularly or they lose their alkaloids and become a tree with no medicinal or recreational properties. One of my plants dropped every leaf and id writen it off as dead i continued watering it when dry and all of a sudden it came back and is doing wonderfully just started flowering.

Do,ypu have any scientific data to back this up or is this all conjecture? It sounds accurate as an evolutionary trait because the inca had this plant for thousands of years. I just wonder since mine have always had that magical touch if ypu know what i mean.
