Coca may be buzz pollinated, it's a special type of pollination that only bumblebees can do. They detach their wing muscles from their wings and use them to vibrate the flower so it releases its pollen.
Don't know about coca, but an electrical toothbrush works wonders with tomato...

dude on ebay hooked it up. There is a listing for $100 for 15 seeds. I offered 80 and it was automatically accepted. They sent about 25 plump drupes and they were at my house in 4 days.

I sprayed down these E. novogranatense plants with insecticidal soap due to them suffering from spider mites. The leaves started to turn yellow and fall off, yet new shoots and healthy leaves kept on growing. I spotted some webbing in their growth tips today, so took action immediately. The two larger ones were still pushing out flowers.

They still look pretty OK. I hope the soap work good, it usually do. Do you keep them is some kind of more humid environment or just in open inside air as a houseplant?

The ones in the dark grey pots are about 4-5 years old. They had though lives so they haven't grown to their full potential. The one in the smaller pot is about 1,5 years old.

I have 20 plants so I decided to plant one half way up the stem to see how it reacts. Who thinks it will get a thicker stem? who thinks it will die? 15 cm down to 7

Bigger root systems and thicker trunks. This will kill many plants and trees. So i would not recommend doin it with everything.

My E. coca are waking up again after winter, enjoying the sunlight. I think the little greenhouse will become too small in a couple of months.

They were not all planted at the same time. I'm thinking I might have germinated some on three different occasions, but I'm not too sure anymore. I estimate the bigger ones are about 7-8 months old, and the smaller ones (the pots with multiple seedlings) about 3-4 months old.

I have one E. coca plant which has lost all of its leaves as well. Normally they start pushing out new leaves or shoots right around the time when the last few old leaves are dropping, but now it's been a stick for a couple of weeks already. The larger plants also suffered from a spider mite infestation so now I'm a bit worried it has lost the battle. But I gave it an insecticidal soap treatment together with the other plants and I'm keeping it watered. Nothing else to do but keeping our fingers crossed!

Mine do it every year but theyre taking their time coming back, i trust they will. The new house has an excellent extension with lots of light and is pretty warm, and unlike the old house actually has working heating.
