i live near the patagonia, so it is very difficult to me to grow this plant, even indoor, im not a coca grower. tempetures here are about 2 to 18 celsius during winter and between 15 to 35 celsius during the other 3 stations, also, it is easy to me to buy leaves but hard to get seeds, almost imposible if i dont travel north. los hombres who post frequently in this section of the forum know a lot of growing coca in areas that arent native, i just felt like answering your question because cocaine is a beautiful alkaloid and truly worth the effort, especially to stop supporting drug trafficking and to know what cocaine is really about.

Over the years I’ve belonged to several forums, and I revisit them every month or two. I saw on one of them today somebody posted something about a GMO coca strain that was created in 2008 that contains little or no cocaine. They mentioned that this plant is legal, the leaves are legally sold in the US, and it is commonly cultivated on the East Coast. Have any of you heard of such a thing? I’m just curious because my novos seem to lack any kind of potency at all, and now I’m wondering if this is the reason why.

Here is my best plant. It was always the runt of my 3, and I even had to stake it up. It did better over winter and now it’s the best looking. They will need bigger pots by next summer for sure.
I picked this today, I could probably sustainably harvest this much twice a week for the rest of the summer. I didn’t pick any from the pretty plant in the picture. My other plants aren’t as upright as that one, so I’m picking from the bottom limbs that are bushy and should probably be pruned anyway.
I made a quid from half the amount pictured. This time I used more baking soda. My teeth feel like they are going to fall out, so I guess it’s working. Do any of you know what conditions affect potency? Here in Georgia it’s always really humid. The plants seem to do OK with it, just not sure if that affects potency. I expect that leaves from the more actively growing top of the plant may be more potent, but I’m not going to do that just yet.

That is one beautiful plant, JizzMasterZero! How old is it, and what soil mixture is it in?

Chewing 25 grams of coca leaves will gives u the same high that snorting 250 mg of cocaine powder. the absorption is slower than doing cocaine powder as long as we are talking about about pharmaceutical cocaine or cocaine with a percentage of more than 90% of purity, it will probably take 45 minutes of chewing but u will get the same high. If u use alcohol before chewing, it will last 2 hours.
The cocaine avaliable on the streets usually isn´t better than 25%, at least where i live. So that 250mg would equal a 1 gram snort of street cocaine, a quite strong dose especially if you have no tolerance built up. One can´t really compare chewing coca leaf to snorting cocaine. When chewing coca leaf you get many different alkaloids from the leaf not just the cocaine.

Thats exactly my thoughts. But a nice quid is absolutely wonderful. Very uplifting.

So I don't post and or do much. It been about a year sence I posted here. This is the same E. Novo I've had for 3ish years. It gets stressed every winter when I bring it inside, but makes a nice come back every spring when I put it back outside. Also have gotten lots of flowers, but never any berries.

I think it’s probably 4 years old. It’s been a year since I put it in that pot. I generally use Sungro #2 or #3 (was called Fafard in the past) for all my plants and I typically add that Black Kow manure from Lowe’s. I really should keep a written record of what I plant things in. My other 2 are lighter green than the one pictured, but all 3 seemed to like a few doses of fish emulsion and liquid iron supplement. I almost always see a flush of flowers after getting a good dose of fertilizer. I got 3 or 4 berries last year, they didn’t germinate. My plants are growing well this summer, I probably should repot in bigger pots now just to make sure they tolerate any neglect they might see this winter.
I really appreciate the data regarding the amount of cocaine in these plants. Novo leaves dry up to almost nothing, 25 grams would be a pretty big pile. It is nice to have a chew, but coca leaf really seems to shine when I’m sick with a bad cold or flu.

I have a question, half of my young seedlings have leaves that curl up on themselves (the back row on the pic below). Is that something to worry about or will it just sort itself out with time?

I see the newest leafs on my seedlings do this too. I don´t really know why they do like this. First time i saw it i thought they were too dry and i sprayed little with watersprayer. But i have noticed it happens with almost all seedlings and the newest produced little leafs. They will un-roll and become normal within some days.

Just had a hail storm blow through. I bet all of my plants got trampled. At least most of my cactus were under the roof. I’ll assess when I get home in the morning. I’ll likely be plucking lots of beat up coca and khat leaves in the morning. At least there is a few more months of warm weather so they can all bounce back before winter.

Good luck buddy because they will get clobbered if hail hit them.
