His pictures Don't show truxillense leaves. If that just is because of his laziness or if it is novo you'll see when grown as Mateo says.

Why lie, there isn´t any difference in price or is it? I have allways paid same for the 2 varietys i have.
And in these south american countries they have as many different coca varietys as we Europeans have different wines. They don´t differate them in coca, novo, truxillence, idapau and such. They have their own names for different types.
If i can guess they are what the seller said, Truxillence. And if not, well they are coca berries so they will be good either way.

Shure they exist. The trujillense variety is well known because of our belowed cocacola bewerage.
The variety E. novogranatense var. trujillense is grown in the region of Trujillense, Peru, and is the source of commercial coca leaf for coca tea and also as a flavouring (this is where Coca-Cola gets its coca leaf).
But there are very many other coca verietys that are grown in the south american countries that only has native names and are said to have quite different properties, looks and growing conditions. This continent is large and has so many different climates so ver 1000 of years different types has evolved.
Im sure we will get some Truxillence plants going within time. There are plants much harder to find.

I may make a trip to Peru soon with an indigenous friend who comes from there. How hard y'all think it would be to sneak cuttings back of some different varieties? She manages to sneak dried leaves into the states every time.

Cuttings aren't easy to root, almost impossible it seems. But they do have coca nurseries (at least in Colombia they do) where farmers can buy seedlings about 3-5 months old for a few cents a piece. Personally I would rather try sending plants back home via mail than smuggling them and risk being caught with them by airport customs, miss the flight, pay a bribe and/or who knows what else.
I'd rather deal with customs at home than in South America, plus most likely if caught in the mail the worst that would happen would be they destroy the plants.

Good point. Maybe I'll just ask her to send me some plants next time she's there.

If you go there you should post some plants to home instead just as MG suggests. But cuttings are a no no, they will not root. Send a small plant with roots. You can cut it down to just a brach or 2 but leave the roots. Wash the soil away and put wet toilet paper around the roots with a plastic bag around to keep the moisture.
This is how i got a few plants posted to me from peru and is now my only bigger E.Coca plant. Mine had all leafs removed except one or 2 but it grew back pretty fast. And if it is just a leafless stick with roots, who can tell what it is?
You don´t want to be caught in customs with a coca plant, not in Peru or US.

One of my Novo sprouts have died The stem got moldy and the small sprout with the seedcoat on top just went down.
And when i poked the seedcoat of another one it just fell off, leaving just a green pole with no head. But to my suprise now 2 days later, i see 2 new mini leafs developing... Yeooii, it is alive. I will not touch the seedcoat on the others, i hope they can push it off by themselves.

Pruning and picking [Re: Mateo]

So i was going to read back through the thread to look for pruning and picking tips and then i realized this thread has gotten to be 60 pages long (which is awesome).
Does anybody have tips about when and how to prune and pick these guys?

I finally got them to tolerate the outdoors and they have started branching and growing like crazy now. I want to be able to prune them to their full potential.

I would also wait some before starting cutting. They will get very small/low if cutting too early. Also they will branch some by themselves. I cut some of my e.novos too early and they are like halfmeter bushes when i actually wanted them atleast somewhat higher. They will eventually get there but the ones i didnt cut early looks better.

Awesome. Thank you guys for the advice. So basically just wait til they get to the size i want and then start trimming?
When did you start feeling comfortable enough to pick? Ive read that the plants basically like to be stripped of their leaves every season once they hit a certain point. I dont feel im to that point yet, but id like to gather that info ahead of time, you know.
