This was my first true love of the style, I'm sure you know it:
FUK THIS IS MY MOST BELOVED TRACK OF ALL cannot explain what this tune does to me. it literally is the sound of my soul. i was up a free party at the ridgeway in avebury a the summer solstice last week and i made the kids put this on twice. even tho they were like 20 yo they all had in in their collections
so i was jumping and twisting llike a shaman in a field watching the solstice sun rise up over the ancient trackwy on the most hallowed land in europe surrounded by ancient megaliths and traveller vans waiting for the feds to turn up and scream at them DONT NEED NO ONE THATS NO GOOD FOR ME" LOL. They didnt show up tjankfully but it was EPIC.

Have you heard much of the stuff produced in the last 5-6 years? It's fucking EPIC man. I'll hook you up with as many producers/tracks as you like; do you use dropbox? PM me if so!!

I've been listening mostly to psytrance and techno in the last 5 years, I'll shoot you a message when I get back to a computer.

I spent NYE in Goa many years ago due to the reputation of the psytrance scene there (or Goa Trance as it become known); only problem was - I got there about 5 years too late. You could just tell that the scene was huge there in the late 90's but had been raped due to popularity and over-indulgence and died a bit of a death, as such things do at times.
Luckily, we stumbled across Sunburn a few days earlier elsewhere in Goa and *just* managed to get in for the last day which was topped by the most amazing Armin Van Buuren set:

Good times man. My first festival in the UK was very Techno/Psytrance based. Wasn't really digging the sound back then but a lot more into it now I've had a few nights to seal the sound into the reward pathways of my brain as something that is GOOD.

Want me to share a massive selection of mp3's from that era with you? Got a few hundred, you'll likely know most if you were into the scene in that era.
I just missed it due to age unfortunately. Kinda caught the end of the PLUR attitude and good pills, and it's still out there very occasionally, but for the most part I've found the younger generation have very little of the respect that used to be shown to one another at such raves. Dunno if that's just here; people seem to have lost the art of dancing without crashing into you every 10 seconds IME... Ended up boycotting several clubs in my latter days for this exact reason.
Wouldn't have happened in my day! (shaking my walking stick at them kids!)
Anyway, if you got dropbox lemme know and I'll chuck some nostalgia inducing tracks your way. All with perfect album art and mp3 tags I might add - I'm a bit of anal about my music library...

I found techno after my big dnb phase, 2003ish. Spent a couple of summers chasing tech parties around Europe, really unique sound. I love listening to euro-tech on internet radio still.
The whole scene here at the moment is psytrance, amazing psy like I've never heard before. Lots of guys spending 3 months making an album and playing it only once live, then starting again. Lots of Israeli producer/dj's coming here and getting involved too. Crazy psy jungle hippies.

You got dropbox man? Would love some of the stuff you're talking about, can do a bit of a swap if so!
If not, hit me up with some good producers please.
As you know, I'm coming to northern NSW at the end of the year. I asked my cousin this weekend how far he thought we'd need to go for decent nightlife and he responded resolutely 'Sydney'. Which is about 10hrs drive. Brisbane is 8hrs, but I don't recall it being much of a night life kinda place...
Sounds like you guys throw some good outdoor squat parties though?

We're all about outdoor parties up here, but done on private property with permission so we can turn the cops away at the gate. Wild parties. Full tripping crowd with no fights or BS. It's a bit of a trip from NSW though, long way. They're a bit more stressed down there, though there's still a good psy circuit in southern Qld.
Just forget the night-life though, the clubbing is crap. All beer and meth idiots. Fucked up.

Well, I'll be working on making some hookups for those outdoor parties then. MUCH more my scene. I loved squat perties here for the anti-cops part for many years, until I lost my phone with all my contacts on it!!

I can totally appreciate how tough DnB can be, but god damn, it's so hard to dance too. IDK to much about DnB bc of that, but some DnB is so fuckin disgusting
At Andy C's set at EDC some of the pyrotechnics messed up and a huge art decoration caught on fire like pretty bad and everyone had to leave the set. That sucks cuz he's a legend

If you're willing to come up here man I'll take you with, new cool people are always welcome. "Bush Week" is on again next year too. 7 full days of arts and beats, one of the best parties happening. There's loads of other smaller 1 and 2 days things too...

I used to frequently shake hands with that dude, pretty sure he knew me by sight. Fucking wicked DJ, still probably my favourite to this day. There was a wicked club here years ago called The End and the DJ booth was in the middle of the dance floor and had a nice shelf to rest your drink on and we'd always kick it there. I got a great pic of him from there but can't find it for shit.

Wicked. Appreciate the offer man. Gonna head straight to the farm when I land, spend a month working out plans with my cousin to make more money from the land, and will then need to get some work in the financial sector for a few years so I can invest in the property and we can get all the outstanding debts on the land paid off.
Due to my skillset I'll need to be working for the banks, so like CBA/ANZ/etc. I think their head offices are in Melbourne so that's probably where I'm gonna have to live a few years. I'd like to come further up your way but I don't think the work will be up there for me. At least not the kinda wage I can command in a financial centre pf the county.
Plus, I think you guys get a lot more heat and rain up there don't ya? Not my ideal environment as a biker.
I will DEFINITELY fly up to see you at some point though man.

Yeah. It's very hot and wet up here, and good work is hard to find. Not the place for everyone. It's a magic life if you can make this place work, though it doesn't work for most. Totally welcome to swing in for a party though, pick up some NQ vibes.

Yes, very much so, DnB is a fave genre of mine.
I listened to it a great deal growing up, Dieselboy and Andy C were a couple of artists I really enjoyed, I recommend the Blackout podcast for some good modern DnB.
Mindmachine is good.
