It should be noted, I didn't buy them for the potassium... Just for something to get in me while my appetite wanes... The potassium was an afterthought that I wish I had considered more while at the store.

Aye, it's a damn shame there aren't that many super surreal, viciously satirical scifi shows like it out there, I've gotten many of my friends pretty obsessed with Black Mirror.

Taking suggestions on what to watch during this time...?
Preferably a show that I can binge on. I've already seen all the Game of Thrones, The X-Files, and a few others, but yeah... Anybody have an idea of some more good shit to watch as I'm off my feet?
Thanks.
I was laid up for two years. See if you can find a sympathetic female friend to give you oral sex, watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, eat benzos and read good books. Read Either/Or, actually. It will turn you into a genius. Also, play instruments. If you don't play anything already, get a harmonica to fuck around with.

shLong said: Thanks.. To be honest, though.....
The stones are chronic and the doctors have had me on pain meds for quite awhile.... So therefore I am dependant on them. I don't want to have to take anything in order to function properly every day and I don't want to be a fucking pill addict... So, I am taking the next several days to detox and withdrawal from the opioid pain meds.
I've weaned myself down, but with every drop it makes me feel like shit, and I don't want to feel like shit for the few months it'll take to wean off, so I am going cold turkey and getting it done in days, not weeks or months. (not counting PAWS, just the acute, terrible symptoms)
I gave my meds to my sister to reduce the temptation of giving in to the pain it causes.
So, I've went and got breakfast shakes and soups and juices and vitamins and shit like that and will be riding this out at home, sick.. So while it's technically kidney stone related, the reason I'm laid up is the pills, not the stones. They'll be back soon, but I just don't wanna be a slave to any meds.. So I'm taking control and getting this over with.
Oh shit I missed that post. I assumed you just fucked yourself up at work or something. What meds are you on? I came off opioids after over a year of daily use and it wasn't all that terrible, but I only ever had codeine and morphine. Definitely better to cold turkey it than wean off.
This will sound fucking retarded, but if you have the physical strength to do it while you're in withdrawals, doing wrist clenches is a pretty good way of driving off harrowing thoughts, distracting yourself and getting some endorphins in your system. Helped me a lot, anyway. Hope you get through it okay.
I'm sure you have better people to talk to, but I'm gonna be awake for the next 60 hours or so, so PM if you get bored.

If you can't, there are a surprising amount of relatively satisfying exercises that you can do in bed. Do the stones just endlessly come and go, or can you get rid of them forever? I thought we had some magical technology to pulverise kidney stones with sound waves or something.

It's called lithotripsy and I've had it done before.. It's a surgical procedure that lays you up for a few days.. Definitely not a magic bullet, but does break up the large ones that can't pass on their own.
