Hpoo

I have done a lot of great work with straw with heat pasteurized mixed with some lime. I wanted to move to hpoo
got some hpoo mixed with straw and did two tubs. Both steam pasteurized in the same bag. Made two tubs. One hit 85% than cobweb so trashed it.
The other fully colonized and got some fruit.
So made 3 more tubs with pure hpoo. (three different times.) The poop smelled really bad.
So did some research and found what I was using was too fresh and if I wanted to use it, that it would need to be leached and aged. So I found a different source of year old horse manure.
This stuff is no longer in clumps and all very loose. Went with a verm hpoo mix. Just eyeballed the verm and put manure in a pillow case. Also put a handful of hydrated lime in the mix and mixed everything up.
So it has been a week now and I am starting to think my two tubs are stalling. :/ used a marker on the outside of the tub last night and have not seen any growth past the marker in 24 hours on a few spots. I am thinking my pasteurization is still not ready for horse manure.

Maybe the lime throws pH off?

Sounds like it could be anything from prep procedures/times or spawning methods/ratios. If you did straight hpoo/verm then it probably matted or was dense from too much moisture.

Ugh why does everyone start poo in a pillowcase? I did too. It didn't last.

I was going to try it honestly but I didn't want to end up squeezing the moisture by hand. I have a 55gal drum pasteurizer and I like the idea of making a large amount of poo in a single batch. What method do you use, jars? I ended up using jars in the pasteurizer, doesn't hold temps as good as my PC but it fits a lot more jars.
I hate that I have to wash all those jars after pasteurizing this way though.

Well shouldn't Hpoo last 2 weeks before risk of contamination after proper pasteurization?
My poop is at field capacity.
Is the hydrated lime bad?

Hydrated lime is mostly used on straight straw. If you're gonna be using it on poo, don't overdo it. You can get away without lime for poo IME.
What do you mean when you say field capacity? The same field capacity we aim for with coir? I was just recently told that field capacity for poo is just a few drops with a hard squeeze.
But yes, properly prepared & pasteurized poo should last a minimum of 2 weeks. If your poo is contaminating before the 2 weeks, there are other factors at play. Could be dirty spawn, could be unleached poo, could be a myriad of things honestly.

Jars too. I tried bags but once they leak, you wanna shoot yourself lol. I use my stove top though with 20L pots. Between you and me.. I don't wash my pasteurization jars. I use these jars specifically for pasteurizing poo. I think it's been a good solid 6-8 months since I did wash it. The leftover poo dries up quick. Haven't had an issue yet.
Too much lime will burn the myc. Poo doesn't need any lime. Hpoo by itself is fuckin awesome.

I need more jars, it's just never enough. Forgot how much jars I threw in my pasteurizer that time, had already spawned twice those couple of days so I didn't cover the bottom with jars.
I wonder if temps would climb unevenly if I were to stack the jars. If I can, this is all I would ever need for pasteurization. Icould fit a ridiculous amount of jars in there if I could stack them.
