I'm ordering some scullcap to try and smoke and use as a tea for relaxation and its sedative properties to sleep. Has anyone e had success with this? I also want to get and try other herbs that have sedative effects before I checkout from shmans garden so what else has been effective?

No.
Try opium. That's the best sedative herb.

Kratom seems to be the most popular sedative herb out there atm, as far as legal stuff goes.

I take Valerian root or Benadryl when feeling anxious or can't sleep. Nice and mild but does the job so I can still function at work.

I find the herbal treatments arnt powerful enough typically. If you really wanna be succesful you gotta go the chemical route and opt for chloroform. Its quick enough that they usually dont see it coming.

Skullcap is good. I find Scutellaria wrightii to be my favorite skullcap to smoke. Most online sources selling skullcap for smoking blends will be Scutellaria lateriflora.
Try Passiflora incarnata. The leaves are good for a smoking blend. You can make a calming tea from them too.
Albizia julibrissin flowers and bark are good. The flowers taste good but aren't as strong as the bark. Careful mixing this one with other substances. We don't fully understand what chemicals are at play.
Lactucarium from Lactuca virosa is good.
Valerian root and Chamomile are obvious ones to try.
Valerian root with passion flower would be a good combo.
I'd recommend teas over smoking blends for sleep.
If you're going to make a smoking blend, definitely get some mullein. It gives your blend body so it's not straight powder, and it actually has a subtle calming effect as well.

The best legal herbal sedatives are erythrina mulungu and withania somnifera imo
Especially mulungu is pretty powerful and feels very similar to benzos

Kratom, valerian, kava. Moderate to high doses I could definitely see the potential of that combo getting you legitimately fucked up.

Still might be worth getting a cheap sample to see how it effects you, it has a lot of medicinal properties and is definitely one of the best sedative plants.

It has a wide range of alkaloids, at least 25+ which are found in varying amounts in different kinds of kratom. Red viens tend to be very sedating and painkilling while white/ greens are more euphoric and stimulating. Many greens have a blend of stimulation and relaxation that can be really useful. Anyways it's definitely worth trying at least just start low, my mom gets sick whenever she takes it which is a shame as it would help her out a ton.

All the good herbsand plants are listed already, but the amino acid theanine has worked for me in the past. Some types of tea contain effective amounts but tabs worked good for me.

I introduced kratom to my mother too and she also said it just made her sick. She even gave it a few attempts. Wonder why that is.
Its weird how small the ceiling is though with kratom. Even after a year of dosing every day, i still cant take ANY more than 5g on an empty stomach without having to lie down. Sometimes 5g is even too much.

herbfarm (sp?) has a tincture blend called "relaxing sleep" that I love.
It's chamomile, valerian, hops, catnip, and a couple of others that I can't remember.....
