My blues have the blues

My first grow and my blue oysters fruited poorly. I made 4 logs about 4 foot long 8" diameter. Used hardwood sawdust and some corncob . Spawned 1 qt birdseed per log. Only got 4 clusters from them. They are growing mycelium like mad looks like a quarter inch thick under the plastic. The fruits I did get were beautiful. Temp inside about 74 degrees. Any ideas ? Thank you all!

Blue oyster mushrooms grow at temperatures cooler than other oyster mushrooms.

Well they can still fruit at higher temps, but its not ideal for them. Best at 45-65 F, some say they have got fruits as far as 70 F.
If you get 74 F average try sub tropical oysters. There's two types of blue, warm and cold.

Well apparently all it takes to make blues pin is to ask a question on the Shroomery. This morning I looked at the smallest log and it has pinned some very large clusters and a few small. These logs are about 6 weeks now. Now if the rest would cooperate. These were supposed to be a warm strain of blues.

Still trying to figure out pics... sorry for the poor pics my tablet has terrible camera. Humidity is just household 67% right now. I don't have a fruiting chamber yet. An idea is to drape spun polyester over bags to keep humidity up and allow light.Like row covers they use for plants. Take off at early pin stage . Crazy ? Or would that work?

Not bad for 67% Rh, well done. But yeah needs more humidity. If the polyester gives u enough FAE, could work.

Also way more light, like 10x what you've got. A couple clamp lights with 6500K fluo bulbs on a 12/12 timer will help quite a bit.

Being I don't know what I'm doing went cheap and ordered LC syringes off eBay.They were contaminated. Then I got some plug spawn and spawned WBS (eBay also,d different vendor). 100% success ,next I p!an on some good masters with proven production.

Just an update and observations. I used unpasteurized fuel pellets for this grow. Not having a fruiting chamber, I misted several times daily. These logs are over 2 months old. One log has 2 large clusters now ,but I think they are almost finished. Just wanting some mushrooms to eat they have provided a good constant supply. Worry less about humidity and give fresh air and light,oh make sure substrate stays hydrated. I injected water with a syringe after fruiting. I'm sure could have gotten more mushrooms with a greenhouse, probably in a large flush.

No I plan on using extra heavy spawn. Easier to cook WBS rather than steralize substrates. I'm just for hobby not commercial.

Ha,no, I mean my supplement will be extra spawn (WBS ) since it's already colonized no contams.
