The reason we are persicuted so much is that we are a poor minority. And not just that, but we are made to disguise ourselves to the general public, leaving them only with preconseptions of what they are told we look like.
the key to ending the W.O.D. is to make ourselves known to the general population. Like the gays did. Come out the closet so to speak.
What we need is Money. All we have to do is buy advertising.
heres some ideas that i have that i'm quite sure if shown to the people would change they'r opinion on drug users:
Grab up as many celebritys, scholars, and public figures as possible and have them all say: hi im _____ and i smoke pot.
another is have victims of the drug war tell they'r storys
and the third is use comedy to spoof the governments propaganda
All three of those would make eccelent commersials. Now they'r is the problem with funds. Seeing as most of us are poor, we'll have to find some rich pot smoking suger daddy to back the campain

If we "came out of the closet" they'd be sure to throw us in the slammer. And how intelligent you come across is VERY important. One of the most effective people I saw speak for pro legalization was a lawyer, it defied some pothead stereotypes.

Depends on how you do it. If you just talk openly and publicly about it the risk is minimal. If you go out in public and announce that you have marijuana on you right now then yes, you will probably be arrested.

Well said Dreamer.
I'd like to remind everyone that Timothy Leary was sent to prison for 10 years for possessing two half smoked joints. Leary says the joints were planted on him by an officer. He obviously has no reason to lie about this. This was coincidentally close to the time Leary was to run for governor of California against Ronald Reagan. 
So my point is that even though being famous and pro-drugs is technically legal, you could easily be arrested for drugs because drugs are illegal. This, in effect, makes being very outspoken against drug policy, illegal in America.

How many years total did Leary spend in jail?
I seriously doubt Leary was any threat to Regan.
...unless Regan was a liberal back then.

i agree..unfortuately..we were too slow...the RAVE act and the istook amendment effectively make it a federal crime for us to go public...this should have been done earlier.. now its too late...and if the gays had waited this long too..then they would also be in the same boat...

Well there was that time he openly and publicly planted some hemp seeds (cultivation of marijuana) and was arrested.
I think he may have gotten some probation out of that.

Woody Harrelson is not a serious threat to the government. Timothy Leary was called "the most dangerous man alive" by Richard Nixon.
BH: I forget how long he did in prison that time. Somewhere around six years. Definitely more than four. He did four years once he was apprehended after breaking out of prison.
