Hey guys! I may or may not have a problem?

So I work out of town and left two weeks ago and my jars were still in the Mycelial phase. None of the jars were all the way white. I came back home today and almost all my jars have lots shrooms already popping up. Is this batch all bad now? Or can I save this? Am I freaking out about nothing?

Thank you! I was panicking a bit lol. I was sooo careful when injecting the spores and making sure everything was sterilized, I would have hated to lose them all because I didn't get back home in time.

So I noticed one of two of the jars had cob webs...how serious is that? Will if affect the other cakes if I put them all in fruiting together?

cob web is hard to diagnose. a lot of times myc can look like cobweb; ESPECIALLY if its been sitting in a jar for a long time and searching like hell for air (;
a nice picture would be needed to tell. but i dont think its cobweb if you have mushies growing at all. though i could be wrong as usual.

Great! Thank you! Question though, is it safe to pop off the pins that have already popped up in the jars and eat those? Or should I wait until a full flush?

yeah, a lot of times when myc tries to grow up into the verm layer like that, it will look thinner, like yours does. and yes, you can take those pins/fruits off, and dry/eat them normally.

I'd toss those and start again, also build a proper SGFC

There should be holes poked all around your tub for FAE, look into an SGFC for cakes (Not to hard to make). You are on the right track, I would use Perlite instead of those clay pellets aswell. Toss those cakes and start over, its all Trial and Error so don't worry.

Yes. I'm aware of the lack of holes and fae. Let's say that's fixed. What about these cakes would make you throw them away.. i mean are you seeing contamination?

You can tell they are contaminated by the GIANT mounds of growth off the side of the cakes. Trust everyones judgment, toss those things and start over.

They're almost to the point of having a rind on them...that's not particularly good and could very well be in response to bacteria. It could also be that they've just been enduring poor conditions, overmisting/drying, etc., which isn't a stretch as you have them in a funky chambers. I was sarcastic in my initial response since you were given multiple responses (from respected members) stating they were shit in another thread and then you woke this one up looking for confirmation that they were good. You might just swallow your pride and listen to what's been stated multiple times and get some new cakes going.

A moot point at this stage... But you want to use perlite not vermiculite... And a SGFC is like the most difficult to make out of anything mycology related... PITA
