Hi. Noob intro. * 1
    #23388056 - 06/27/16 03:23 PM (7 years, 8 months ago)

Hi all. This is my first post here. I've been trolling here for about a year and decided I should prolly make an account.

I've tried shrooms many times and was interested in how they are cultivated. This is THE site to learn everything mushroom related. The search function is invaluable!
Any question I could possibly think of had already been answered! "What's the best FC, tek, sterile technique, substrate, misting, casing, drying method, etc..." Hell, I even searched for "answer to life the universe and everything?" (42!) "Should I go left or right?" (It's right...) It's all been covered, and I wanted to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge and experiences. This community is amazing.

Growing has always been a hobby of mine. My outdoor garden has 26 varieties of tomatoes. All heirloom, organic and gmo free. Also doing sugar snap peas, 3 types of zucchini, squash, 4 types of cucumbers,  2 types of strawberries, 14 different leafy greens, broccoli romanesco, purple and green tomatillos, over 10 types of peppers and countless herbs.

I also grow indoors and have done so for over 20 years. I made and ultrasonic/aeroponics cloner and run DWC buckets using an AquaFarm drip ring. I'll be joining the sister community at the Growery soon. I also maintain a moss terrarium and a freshwater aquarium. I have a 5 stage, ispring reverse osmosis water filtration system for all my water needs. Water comes out at 16ppm. It's amazing.

I worked on a forward trauma surgical team in the army for many years. I was a registered nurse and physicians assistant.  I currently work in a brewery as a brewers assistant on Mondays and bartender the remainder of the week. (I'm cleaning kegs as I write this) I brew my own beer at home, as well. I'm not setup to lager yet, just ales. Partial mash, brew-in-a-bag. My aseptic technique is complete and thorough.

I'm finishing up my first cycle of GT (from a trusted sponsor) in a SGFC using BRF cakes, following the pf teks from this site. I'm definitely multispore right now. I'll be moving to agar within the month. Ive got a ton to do in the garden first. So many projects!!!  I fucking LOVE projects!!!! Lol. Ok, I've had zero issues. None of my jars have had contaminates yet, but I know it's eventually gonna happen. I have a PC and used it. I'm using a glovebox for right now, with plans of constructing a flowhood soon. Also, using one pint jars. Again, zero contams, but it took forever to fully colonize the cakes. The search function for this site showed me the issues with using that size jar and I was willing to deal with the extended set time. I store my jars on the highest shelf in my grow room. They are happy as hell and so am I.

I have ptsd and the meds they've given me do absolutely nothing to help with the nightmares. Every trip advisory I've ever read, states not to take shrooms if you have any mental issues or are on antidepressants. I've never had an issue with shrooms. And my greens just mellows me down and helps me sleep. So much better than depakote! I'd rather stay natural than take the crap they said I "need". I literally have a large box filled with meds I'm never gonna use. They all make me feel like a zombie, or make my hands shakes uncontrollably. I'm not fully against modern medicine. I'm against throwing a medication at a patient and hoping it works, side effects be damned. Ok, enough of that.

Yesterday I grabbed 4, #1928 sterlites from Wally World. Hit Amazon for gypsum and organic rye berries. I'll be going bovine for substrate. Need to research casing more. I've read the teks, but I wanna read them again. I already have the perlite and vermiculite, polyfil and earthworm casings. I'm excited to start monotubs. When shrooms can be found near me, they r 45$-50$ an 8th... Too expensive! Not cool.

Anyways, that's me. This is what I do and who I am. It's a pleasure being part of the community. I'm brand new to this mycology thing. I look forward to learning more and helping out when I can. I REALLY appreciate all the info on this site. Thank you so much everyone. Couldn't do it without y'all. I welcome all comments, feedback, insults, arguments or questions.

I think you mean "lurking" not "trolling" lol. But anyways, it's good to know that the Shroomery has been just as invaluable of a resource to you as it has been for most of us.

And btw welcome to the Shroomery! :shroomeryhead:

Can't give away the kegs, but I can talk ya thru brewing your own beer. You can get basic brewing equipment for around the same price as a quarter barrel keg of craft beer.

Hehe Nah I was joking. Thanks for the offer though I'll hit you up if I get into brewing anytime soon!
