malt vs potatoe agar

Hey guys was wondering your experiences with malt and potato dextrose agar. Whenever i use Malt agar, i get great results. This past time i decided to try potato dextrose. I noticed a big difference. With potato dextrose, the mycelium is very thin, light and almost nothing. Im wondering if theres a problem with it. Prehaps i can add sugar to give it a boost?

Are you not adding honey/karo (dextrose) to your PDA?

I know, malt is pretty great on its own.
I meant your potato-dextrose-agar. Are you adding karo or honey to that?

it'll help. There's definitely an agar recipe list if you search it. At least to get an idea.

cool. added about a bottle of karo to my mix. It increased volume by about 1/3rd and still solidified. theres a definitively noticeable glossy clear appearance to the agar. Just gotta sterilize it now. Hoping the cook wont caramelize the Karo, but im pretty sure karo is more resistant to caramelization than honey. Thanks guys

Yes, if you're agar mix is 1/3 Karo that's far too much. It should only be at maximum 4%. I only add a couple grams (maybe a teaspoon) of honey per batch of 10 plates. You want drops of honey/Karo, not a bottle.
Edit: (added maximum)

yeah thats way too much sugar
for pda my recipe is:
- 1 gram honey or raw sugar - 2 grams agar - 3 grams potato flakes - 1/2 cup water

I'm not sure what you mean. You add agar to an LC recipe? because that's totally unnecessary.
