Cancerous Tumor - How bad???

Someone I know was recently diagnosed with a cancerous tumor somewhere in their pelvis. They did an MRI, and it's pretty big: softball-sized.
Is this as bad as I imagine?
Thx,

Is it confirmed to be cancerous? Some tumors are benign, not having the ability to spread too much.

Yeah. They're going to try and shrink it by hitting it with radiation, and then under the knife.

I doubt anyone here is even remotely qualified to answer this. Wait until you hear what the quacks say. As long as it doesn't/hasn't spread, I believe that full recovery is possible.

it depends on the type of cancer. If they havent done one already, when they remove it they will do a biopsy and determine which type, fast or slow. From there they will decide what to do next, probably somewhere between keeping your friend on watch for some years, or further treatment such as chemotherapy to kill any remaining cancer cells. It is not so much the size that matters as it is the type, and whether or not it has spread. I have heard of other people recovering from much worse findings. I wish your friend a quick and victorious battle.

It also depends on where the tumor is. If it's grown around major arteries and nerves and that kind of stuff, then the surgeons are going to have a lot of trouble getting rid of the thing. If it's softball size, then it's probably wrapped around some import stuff though. I'd guess the prognosis isn't great based off the location and size of the tumor, but I'm guessing mostly blind.

Yes, he actually mentioned that to me. it's pressing against and or has grown into his lower spine, causing psiatica symptoms.
That's how the tumor was found. This was what alerted him to the problem. Hard for me to believe, but despite a softball-sized growth, there were no pain or other symptoms.
Now that you mention it, he did say that the Docs said that the location of the tumor would make it much more difficult, because they have to be ultra-careful working near the spine.

Being ultra careful also means they have to be ultra conservative about how much of the tumor they remove, so some of it will probably stay behind when they do the surgery, and then it will most likely grow back. The surgeons won't want to risk damaging the sciatic nerve by cutting parts of it out. That would make them liable for the damage and it would also do more harm then good for your friend.

Exactly... and he's now losing feeling in one leg, and the ability to walk.
Hopefully the tumor is just pressing against the spine, and hasn't actually spread to it. They couldn't tell from the MRI; their plan is to open him up, take a look, and make a decision from there.

Cancer is a fabricated disease created to radiate and kill healthy people.
It's a population control. It's not real.

Hopefully it works out. It's always a gamble with cancer treatment.
...and thanks for getting rid of that cancerous puppet, enlil.
