Whether it be man made medicine or plant, do you think the part of the brain responsible for Nirvana, liberation, bliss, can be unlocked with a pill?

It's most likely possible for something like that to be made if the human race survives long enough, but IMO religion will never fully go away.

this is more suitable for a different area of the forums but to answer your question i think it already has been for many people. different people find their path through a number of different substances, sometimes in conjunction with organized religions. i know at times i have

true, I'm pretty supportive of the notion that religions evolved out of tribal traditions which were mostly built around drug experience, but I don't think we'll come full circle for a time yet. Maybe in the civilized world, but I can't see the vast majority of the people out there embracing drugs with all the negative connotation and cultural biases. Maybe when we have a global civilization, but I wouldn't count on it

The question in the OP is not the same as the question in the thread title .
Can drugs unlock the states of consciousness associated with enlightenment and spirituality ?
Probably sometimes for some people .
Will any drug completely replace religion ?
No.
We have many amazing drugs and have for a long time , including drugs that produce profoundly spiritual states such as ketamine, LSD and mushrooms and DMT , but religion/ spirituality isn't going anywhere.
For one thing , attaining profound altered states of consciousness isn't really the goal of many modern religions .
But mainly, although drugs can temporarily provide a glimpse of enlightenment , only long term , daily , disciplined practice of spiritual techniques like yoga and meditation and a complete alignment of your lifestyle with the goal of enlightenment can ever make those states permanent or allow you to integrate the transcendent Experiences with your life in a way that makes it useful And meaningful in a practical and enduring sense.

DMT

That's what I'm stabbing at...you say only discipline, yoga, medatation. I say the benifits of these things are all mental. So a pill unlocking your brain to tap into these effects will replace the need of said practices. Right?

Yes, now that you mention it, in theory, it is quite possible that whatever the benefits of yoga and meditation might be provided by some future medicine or technology.
Its not certain, but it is possible.
But the question then becomes, would an advanced Yogi and Meditator who takes the pill be even more enlightened than someone who took only the pill?

Religion is a practice and a belief. The purpose of which is to live in and spread love, peace, harmony, compassion, and all that jazz. All qualities that take place in the mind.

this. From what I have read, high dose MXE experiences seem to be basically a direct description of temporary enlightenment
I am yet to do MXE myself. just saying
Also; I don't think so. I think there will be things to improve spiritual health so to speak. But not just give one enlightenmnet
For example, are there certain chemicals/supplements/herbs that WITHIN A CONTEXT help one achieve health. b vitamins and magnesium improved MY HEALTH. But I doubt there will be a pill that completely does that work for you

Like imagine a pill that is not made of any whole foods, made in a lab, that replaces food completely. I coudn't really see that. Or a pill that replicates sleep
Xan, melatonin, valerian, GHB etc. all have helped me sleep better. But not straight up replace sleep Or caffeine can breifly improve wakefulness. But you can't just replace your daily sleep with red bulls. Its not a long term sustainable idea. Just my opnion
