Would you live a thousand years?

What if you could live a thousand years, aging at the slow rate of 1 human year per ten Earth years (in a hundred years, u would be ten years old).
Would u do it?

I said yes, but to be honest it's completely dependent on the quality of life that those thousand years would be comprised of.

Only if suicide was an option. Being able to become the best person in the world at everything would be great, but eventually you might get bored and need to die.

Hmmm. Would other people age that way as well. I would need parents to look after me for a good while probably. But i guess that would somewhat negate the question as time would be relative and things would be similar to now. If not, after awhile the guardians would die off and Im sure id get lost in the shuffle somewhere. But if It where just mw slowly aging and could make it to a mature age you would have so much cash and experience it seems like it would have very high points. Also very low points when everyone you love passes away. Very interesting question. I really cant make a decision with just a few moments to reflect on it.

I picked STAL because it depends for me whether the people I know and love also live that long or if they only live a normal life, no fun living a thousand years if everyone you know, meet, and loved keeps dieing within 100 at most

Also eventually you wouks have no one to relate too, you would be so far advanced past everyone else. I imagine it would get lonely much of the time.
Ive read books where different characters have a much longer lifespan then anyone elae and its pretty interesting to see the different writers perspective on the topic.

Absolutely. Why not? You only live once. May as well do it for as long as you can.

kudos on the person that mentioned quality of life. there are few people that the world would either want to tolerate for 1000 years or that the world would be worthy of having for 1000 years. this reminds me of the lifespan of a rock... i picture myself as a rock and it doesn't seem too appealing.

True that. Rocks very much enjoy their experience imo. At least all the rocks I've ever met seemed to feel that way.

Yup. I've noticed that also. They're always even keeled. You never see any of them too high or too low emotionally. They're always in the middle. That's how I strive to be.

Yup. Plus many of them get to see countless events and periods of time go by. For instance, there is this rock/boulder that we tripped on about half a dozen times that's on top of this hill/mountain. There are trails that lead up to it. We could feel the history of the rock, and it was a trip to think of all the other countless people who had sat and rested upon it; going all the way back to when the natives lived in this valley and no doubt looked down upon it from that rock.
Shit's a trip.

No, death is necessary, after a short while I would become jaded. Well before the thousandth year at least.
