Any Adobe Premiere users?

I'm a total rookie, and I have a bunch of footage on multiple tracks in the program. I want to know how I can keep the footage on multiple tracks, but how to select which track actually plays, so I can fade back and forth easily through different bits of footage. That way I can move stuff around easily and keep some tracks in place, i.e the ones where I'm singing so I can cut to those parts back and forth. Does that make sense? Thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

The easiest way is to just cut and remove video where needed to make sure there's only one track of video (minus the few seconds for fading) at any given point on the timeline.
It's been awhile since I used it, but IIRC, you need to space the tracks out. At least that's how I did it. You'll have multiple lines where you can put tracks, so on the first line you'll put your opening video, on the second line you'll put the track you want to fade into. You line up the end of the first track with the beginning of the second track. If the last and first frame of the respective videos are at the same point it will instantly cut from one video the next. If you overlap the ends by a second or two you can apply fade effects to one of the tracks.
You don't have to cut them up and import them separately. If you have 2 10 minute clips, you can put both on the time line so the time line is only 10 minutes long, then can cut them around the areas where you want to fade in and out. You can then remove the video of the "hidden" track and leave only the track you want to see at that point in the time line.
Hopefully all that makes sense because I'm working from memory and don't even have it installed anymore.

You can also just fade the tracks to black that you don't want to see, then bring them back to 100% when you do. this way you don't have to move or cut any tracks.
