Peat Moss in Bulk Substrate

I recently harvested my first flush off of 10 of my BRF cakes and was not wholly impressed by my results. 10g dry off all of them. I'm hoping for a better second flush, but in the future, I'd like to try different methods.
I have 8 Tasmanian half-pint jars in incubation right now and wanted to toss them into a mini-bulk to see if I can up my yields. I couldn't find single bricks of coco coir at my local hardware stores. They only came in large bags or sets of bricks which is far beyond what I actually need to use and am willing to pay. I purchased an 8 qt bag of Miracle-Gro peat moss and was wondering if this could be an adequate substitute? I've read that peat moss lacks nutrients but this contains plant food. Should I continue my search for coco coir or take the risk with this?
I plan on placing the spawn and a substrate of 3:1 peat moss to vermiculite with a little lime to balance the pH in a 10 qt plastic container and fruiting it in the SGFC I'm using now once it reaches full colonization. Should this be fine too?

If it were me I'd have figured out if it was a good bulk substrate before I purchased it... But, since we're here, it's not very nutritious and it needs to be pasteurized unlike coir which can be sterilized or boiled or whatever you want really. Might pull something if you mix it with some verm, but Peat is much better as a casing material than a bulk substrate. You might actually be better off using plain old gardening soil.

When I bought it, I was under the impression that peat moss and coco peat were more or less the same...until I did a little more research.
I might use the peat moss for a casing, but is one necessary for what I'm doing?

I was just in this same situation with 8 BRF cakes and did'nt have much bulk sub materials to work with. I was able to spawn them to hpoo/coffee grounds/verm/small pinch of pickling lime/peatmoss/gypsum and used spring water and just a hint of coffee to wet it. I then pasteurized in the oven for about an hour.
I am unable to share any pic just yet bc I just put the tubs in the incubator but I have had pretty good luck with that recipe in the past. You could also crumble the cakes and case with 50/50+.

I've thought about using cow poo. Does it produce any odors during pasteurization? That's the biggest fear I have. The last thing I want is a stinky kitchen.

Yes but its not like it smells like poo. Kitchen stops smelling quick af too. Kinda like how you can hot box a kitchen and air it out in like an hour tops.
