GROWING HELP
    #23385238 - 06/26/16 07:21 PM (7 years, 7 months ago)

hey guys I'm new to this site and growing cubensis. my friend gave me an ice bin with the spores sprouting and everything. some of the mushrooms look normal but some have dark brown almost black caps. I have read on blue light that that just means the mushrooms stopped growing the y are aborted, or the spores are gone. but I wanted to make sure they were safe to eat. I can post pictures if needed, the cake was also grown with manure I believe. someone please answer tho I really want to trip but trip safe! I've bought from this guy before same kind of mushrooms as before but I only ate 2 grams, didn't trip that hard. but I just wanna make sure I'm doing it right. any help would be appreciated!

Yes, they are safe to eat. The mushrooms were picked too late and they dropped their spores, no big deal.
The only downside is now they're gonna taste horrible and it might give you some stomach cramps, so I highly suggest making a tea with them instead.

Tea for sure. I would dehydrate them first if you are worried about bacteria or whatever.

I think your icebin or whatever must have been a choke box. Those look like they've been starving for air.

The substrate looks angry too. But it's something

 I'd have to see what you've got. The FC is probably no good though, that's fairly clear. Your spawn may have also been a bit sketchy.

no that's not what I mean, don't dehydrate it. The FC = fruiting chamber. It should be ventilated enough to allow for good fresh air exchange.

oh I see and naw the other guy was telling me to dehydrate them if I'm worried about bacteria, but they look okay. hmm so I should get something better than an ice chest for ventilation? they have forums here on how to grow em good right
