Sublime? Stone Temple Pilots. Red Hot Chili Peppers. Green Day.
Basically what all the SoCal surfers listen too. Or at least that's what they use to listen too... Lol

I don't think Sublime is surf, though sure fans of surf rock are likely in to sublime as well. I love STP but I don't think they qualify either, not a fan of the Chilis so I can't comment.
Green day is straight up alternative

Someone already mentioned Sublime.
Bands such as 'Slightly Stoopid' and 'The Expendabels' come to mind.
311 is another really good band...they're within the same genre somewhat.
If you heard of all those bands already I can highly reccomend 'Stick Figure'

What exactly is 'surf rock'? I've lived in both Hawaii and Southern California my whole life. Dad was a serious soul surfer. Never really heard to the term 'surf rock' seems like some kook shit tbh.

Anyways. I'd try checking out surf movie soundtracks. Plenty of awesome tracks there. I discovered one of my all time favorite bands "Soul Hooligan" from a surf flick.

You're gonna laugh at me but I really enjoyed the animated movie 'Surfs Up' with the penguins.
I think they really nailed the script and capturing the overall culture behind it. Even if it was a bit cliché.
Mavericks was another good one...
