You would probably end up spending the majority of your eternity wishing you could end it. Sometimes the only thing that makes life bearable is knowing it won't last imo

I'd live forever just for the knowledge you could learn, outliving everyone might be worth the crazy shit you can experience in a few thousand years.

An obvious curse and a burden

To see everyone you'll ever know die, never to make any friends or family because of the pain of watching them die

I imagine eventually you'd become numb to all human interaction and go insane

Might be kinda cool once you get smart enough to figure out galactic travel... But it would blow if your vessel fucked up and you were stuck floating through space for aeons :rofl:

Even if the vessel never fucked up, all stars will burn out eventually.  After trillions of years you would be just as far from death as you are now.  Stuck in dark, cold void for eternity.

Living a long time would be cool. Thousands, millions or billions of years.  Immortality would be terrible.

Existing before Heaven and Earth,
Silent, still, standing alone, unchanging,

If forced to give it a name, I call it
Great (ta). Being great, it flows out;
Flowing out means far-reaching;
Being far-reaching, it is said to return.

You're immortal, you would get way more than 72 virgins.

You're immortal, you would get way more than 72 virgins.

What if you're immortal but you continue to age so when you're like 700 you're basically just a living shambling corpse

I wouldn't mind watching everyone I know die of old age. I would rather watch them die than them watch me die actually.

Reality by it's very nature is a temporal and subjective state of being and a cog in what I believe is an infinite cosmic machine.
Trying to immortalize it feels...wrong to me.

I fear death just as much as anyone, if not a little more(yay anxiety!) than anyone, don't get me wrong..but the idea of immortality seems...oddly disturbing to me, it would be a very painful thing imo, sure it would be interesting to see the world change, but man..idk, trying to turn this superficial existence into something permanent and unchanging..no bueno.

Though I think it's great that medical research is actively extending our time on this earth every day. One thing to consider about longer lives is that a species birth rate has to be balanced in proportion to that species life span. If certain insects or rodents lived for 80 years and their reproduction rates were still the same then the species would overpopulate, decimate resources, and go extinct - we are certainly not excluded from that reality.

You know how time sped up from when you were a child. I wonder if that would become more and more pronounced as the eons rolled by. If time is relative what if your perception of it eventually sped up to the point where you watched stars birth and die in mere moments before your eyes.

If someone offered me Immortality I sure the hell would take it, because I know that sneaky person offering it would take it themselves if I didn't! And I sure wouldn't allow that to happen.
