straw logs look weird?

im doing these logs and im pretty sure they are okay. they are colonizing quickly but, there are a few little weird things i just wanted to find out wtf is going on. First off, you can see that the logs are yellowing. pretty heavily in some spots. my guess was metabolites. but just making sure and curious how to prevent it in the future?
everything is colonizing fine, except for these weird brown spots. it is straw, but i guess, idk its just not colonizing. and they have been there from the beginning. they didnt just show up and there are quite a few of these spots. doesnt seem to be affecting the colonization. but it also doesnt seem to be colonized.
this photo shows what looks to be some sort of mycelial mass protruding from the plastic. 2 part question: wtf is it? and when i take the plastic off to birth the log will it affect the fruiting?

perhaps there was too much moisture to begin with? really i have no idea. but it could also be a bacteria of some sort. someone with better eyes than mine could give you a much better answer though...

I've seen it before, it is bacteria bloom.
Looks like the condensation pooled into a water mass and made contact with uncolonized bulk which will cause this because of the bacteria. I don't know what that blob is but it looks like maybe a micro hole in the bag producing a early mushroom and that would also be a sign that the myc is fighting a bacteria infection....fruiting prior to 100%...
I personally would birth them now and take a whiff...it won't smell pleasant op but you should still be able to yeild a crop at this point in your game.

well i did poke a lot of holes for the air exchange. but there isnt any smell. i thought by using hydrated lime bath while pasteurizing it would solve the problems of bacteria for at least 2 weeks? it showed at about 8 days. are you saying the yellowing is the bacteria or the brown spots? or both?
however i dont think it drained properly while i was letting it cool. so a lot of extra moisture could be the cause.

Pasteurization still leaves behind the beneficial microbes (insert scientific name here) but if the substrate makes contact with them and pooled water they then divide much quicker then mycelium can compete which is why their flourishing in that area....the entire log looks perfectly healthy so it was obviously not your procedure, just a unfortunate occurence.... it use to happen to me when I was using zip lock bags.

excellent thanks for the info. i suppose letting it drain more would prevent this in the future.

so i birthed the logs and this is what is popping up. everything looks healthy except for this.

this pesky brownspot????

should everything be okay? it looks healthy and great colonization. i guess we will see. still curious as to why these things are growing still after i birthed the cakes. most of the ones that were growing got knocked off during the birth but these are going strong still.
weird?!??!?!?

i really dont have the knowledge to help you here, but it IS interesting lol. those are knots forming im assuming?
as for the 'pesky brown spot', i would have to assume that spot has a bacterial contam. the myc is having a hard time overcoming the bacteria in that area, therefor inhibiting growth from occurring. it should still flush in the better areas.. but i dont like bacteria personally. it could definitely be a factor in the weird mushie formations as well..
still hoping better eyes than mine can chime in lol. good luck though buddy!

It will flush but mold will likely set in from the brown spot
