Auckland ID Request

Hi Guys, bit of a newbie in the scene but think I may have come across a nice patch of Subs (first find). It was a bit of a grab and run as its quite public so I just pulled a couple out for ID purposes, will make sure I cut them if I take any more. I had to chuck them in my pocket as I didnt have a bag with me so they are not in the best condition for the photos. Never actually hunted myself but have had shrooms before. Quite excited to have a crack at the whole deal. Still hard to believe something so good can be so easy to find (if the ID proves me right!)
Habitat: Damp bark/woodchip covered garden.
Gills: Chocolate brown
Stem: 30-60mm long and about 4-7mm thick
Cap: 20-40mm in diameter
Spore print color: Dark purple/Violet almost black
Bruising: Blue/purple

I am not sure what you have there, but they don't look active.
Maybe Psathyrella, but I have never seen a Psathyrella with a purplish tint. Looks like Cortinarius, but the spore print color is wrong for that.

Thanks, for that. I might try and get a few more and handle them a bit better and get some better photos.

Michael Kuo describes P. bipellis as having purplish flesh in the cap and upper half of the stem.

I've never seen this species for real though.

That first collection is Cortinarius subgen. Phlegmacium probably section Purpurascentes, close to C. chalybaeus.
I don't know why the spore deposits look so dark but in the last image of the gills you can see the rusty-brown spores in some areas on the gill surface.

Thanks. The camera must have messed with the colors due to the white background.

Doesn't look like that, to be honest. I'm rather suspecting a two species mix-up, where the dark spored ones got printed, but not the rusty.
